Hi LadyM, The weigh gain seemed to slow down a little for me. However, I still need to drink lots of water, exercise and watch what I eat. A lot of us here are now trying to get into better shape with our healthier lungs. Find any of our threads and join us. Just remember whatever you do, stay smoke free. Ladymullet, Some quitters do gain weight and it is due to the following: * Your metabolism does experience a slow down but it will regain its balance in time. * Nicotine is no longer making your gut move faster. The food is staying in your gut longer and your body is better able to absorb nutrients. * Some quitters compensate for quitting with eating. That's the bad news. The good news is that there is much you can do to counteract this and many benefits that will come as a result of your quit that will also help. * Because of your quit you will have more energy & endurance. This will help you tolerate physical activity. * Make healthy choices, watch your portion sizes, drink lots of water and increase your level of physical activity. If you hate the gym, find a fun activity like skating, a sport, walking, a dance class... * Eat breakfast. This helps jumpstart your metabolism for the day. Hope this answers your question. Remember, weight gain is temporary and you can always tackle this issue when you are more comfortable in your quit. Danielle ______________________ The SSC Support Team

LadyM, start walking! You can walk anywhere and in any weather. If you work in a building, you can do the stairs. If you stay at home, you can walk outside or walk to Walk Away the Pounds dvds. You can walk at the mall, at a park, in your neighborhood, or on a bike path. Losing weight takes determination and commitment just like quitting smoking, but it really is a simple concept: move more and eat less. Good luck! I noticed that all of my clothes are getting very tight, figured I had gained a couple of pounds, no problem, I'll lose it after this is over, checked today and gained 10lbs, bummer, I am already too big, the extra weight is awful and very discouraging. I thought I was doing so good, keep ciniman candy around to manage the cravings. What to do, what to do.
