Yep, sounds like we're just about at the same place. Have you set your start date yet? It seems wierd that its so hard to set a date to start something that you really want to do so bad. We can do it, we just have to make up our minds. I know just what your feeling. Dee

Hi again. I have been reading lots of old posts & getting to know everyone a bit. All the info & suggestions are so inspiring & encouraging, it makes me want to quit right now. I know I'm not ready yet though. Yesterday, during my 90 minute, horrible traffic, horrible weather drive home I only smoked one cigarette. I would normally have about 5 under those circumstances. I am thinking more about every one I smoke & why. I also have begun to imagine my lungs filling with disgusting smoke, all my blood vessels constricting, new wrinkles developing & all the other horrors happening to my body when I smoke. I really feel that when I do my smoker's diary & decide on a method (leaning toward the patch again), I will feel ready to do this. Thanks again for all the support.

Hi Heather and welcome. I tried for 3 years and 11 times. What finally did it for me is this support group. Remember, it does get better. If it didn't get better, nobody would ever quit. How are you doing Heather, you are smart to stop smoking. The main way to beat this stinking habit is,to set your mind to it.Dont smoke no matter what and as minutes and days pass it will get easier. You will feel so much better everyday that you dont smoke.ITS WORTH THE FEW DAYS OF WITHDRAWAL,to get your life back. GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND GET STARTED SMOKEY My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/15/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 50 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,264 Amount Saved: $250 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 16 Mins: 50 Seconds: 16

I think gonndoit was onto something, maybe "unhinged" would have been a more accurate handle, considering my reactions to things when I'm not smoking! What exactly is chantix & is it available in Canada? Thanks agian for the encouragement & kind words!

Heather - you'll have to excuse Gonnadoit's freudian slip there about the unhinged. It's just that we all have moments in our quits when we feel that way ... and the support of others here helps us get our heads on straight! If nothing else, it was good for a laugh - and laughter is the best medicine after all!
