Welcome Heather, Just to see that other people do this is a great encouragement. Learn all you can. A positive attitude is a must. You need to be happy you are doing this for yourself. Don't feel it is something you have to do...but rather something you want to do. Be sure to check out the program to the left. Write us often. You can do this!! Welcome Heather and good luck when you do quit for good. I smoked for 50 years and this has been the longest I have quit which is a little over 5 months. I live alone so I don't have a partner who smokes nor one to encourage me. I quit cold turkey but I'm all for what ever works for someone else. Since I quit I have been through Xmas and New Years and went to Thailand and Burma for a month all w/o picking up a cigarette. AT times I really craved one (especially in Burma) but held out because I knew just one cigarette would get me back to buying a pack, carton etc. You know the story as we have all been through it. Hang with us once you quit as you will be most welcome. Thanks, Harrell Harrell - Free and Healing for Five Months, Three Days, 6 Hours and 49 Minutes.

Welcome to a great place!! I too have quit using chantix. 30 yrs of smoking mostly 2 packs a day. What a difference quitting has made. I can now breath and my cough is gone. I quit on the 6th day of chantix. Cigs just tasted stale and nasty to me. I put my last one out on sunday at 5:30 and i haven't had one since!!! So come on, lets get started! You won't regret it. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 63 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,591 Amount Saved: $315 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 17 Mins: 41 Seconds: 12

You got to be determined. Once you have the right mind set, ANYTHING is possible! I smoked for 23 years. 30 a day! Hardly even think about it any more. And that is so wonderful. Grab your courage and dive in. Unhooked, Welcome to the SSC! It's now time to bring all those past skills and tack a cheering section to your strategy! Rewarding yourself, mantras and other forms of self-talk are still important as are having people to give you a pat on the back. It's also important to have a plan for cravings and triggers so be sure to work through our online quit program. Keep us posted. Danielle _____________________ The SSC Support Team

Hi Heather and welcome! I also smoked for 30+ years and am so happy to finally be free of nicotine. I really feel great. It was a big help to me to go through the support tools on the left. Everyone here is very supportive, which I agree is a must when tackling something as big as this! I hope the support you find here helps to make a difference in your upcoming quit, just as it did in mine. Congratulations on making the decision to quit! Hello Heather, I too have found inspiration from everyone who writes in. I log on periodically throughout the day for support because I know I cannot do this alone. My quit date is May 8th and I am on Chantix. After the first pill I began having withdrawls, I am on day 3. It's an amazing feeling to be smoking a cigarette and having withdrawls at the same time. In the last three days I have reduced my cigarettes from 15 a day to 7 and on May 8th I will be free! Good luck on your decision to quit, you can do it!!!!!!!
