Callie, yes stomach aches and diharrea does sound familiar. I think its just a side effect of the anxiety - unpleasant yes, but personally i think its nothing to worry about. I've found when i'm really stressed or panicky the loo becomes my best friend!! Don't worry its quite normal - I went through getting all sorts of tests done and now know that it is definately only a side effect of being a nervy person so don't worry, your'e not alone! :)

Today has been a terrible day for me. I feel as if I will jump out of my skin. Nothing seems to help. I live alone and that does not help. Cna't even talk to someone. When I get nervous like this, it seems like I have direaha and stomach upset. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Just had to tell someone. Callie

Hi, I just wanted to update everyone on my withdrawals. Things have gotten a little better, my headaches aren't as severe but I'm still having the nightmares. Tomorrow I'm going down to 2.5 mg of Paxil a day for a week, then I'll be off it completely ( I HOPE) So I still have a ways to go, and I hope the worst is behind me ( Won't know for about a week or so). Man, this is/has been TOUGH!! :( But I do want to thank everyone for their support! I'll keep y'all updated. Thx!!

I just want to add that when I have stopped any SSRI including Paxil, I have had all of the above mentioned symptoms also. I also had the screaming nightmares while I was on it, developed all kinds of weird diseases and gained a ton of weight, which I have not been able to loose; so on top of the depression, anxiety etc., I now have gained twice my weight, without even trying....and no one will believe it. I just had to learn to love myself the way I am, even if everyone else is disgusted with my weight; because I still need the medications. Sorry you went through the withdrawal, but in my experience, it lasted only about two weeks or so. But later on, maybe three or four months later, I have always had to try something else; and I guess that is why I am here...

Your hobby sounds like a good idea Lester. Re-direct your thought and energy into something more positive. I feel horrible for you and what you are going thru. Just keep telling yourself that you WILL get better. You are probably experiencing the worst of it right now. I know its difficult but I promise, it does get better!

Thanks for the site trish, It's quite interesting. I guess i'm in the 4-to-10% group that has major withdrawals, lol. I have been experiencing almost every symptom listed on that site! The last few days have been hell for me, and I'm sure I have a few more coming, but I AM gonna get off this stuff! I'm also going to start exercising again. I had stopped working out on my Doctors' recommendation, as I had lost so much weight ( weird, as it seems most Paxil users gain weight) I do drink a lot of water everyday already, so I have that going for me anyways. And lastly, I've gotten back to building model cars (my hobby) which I hope will help keep my mind off the withdrawals. Thanks again! :)

Lester, According to Dr. Stuart Shipko author of Surviving Panic Disorder, he is a strong advocate against SSRI's in general since the pharma companies have mislead the public in the beginning stating its non habit forming, etc, and failed to mention the extreme withdrawal effects, headaches, tremors, brain zaps, recurrance of anxiety when actually is SSRI withdrawal, insomnia, mood swings, to name a few. There is a site that helps others, as Dr. Shipko states SSRI withdrawal is 10 fold worse than Xanax withdrawal. You may wish to visit www.quitpaxil.info for advice from others that are experiencing the same in tapering off their dosages. Yes I have been on it, and it does have a place for panic, but when your ready to come off it, be prepared. Trish

Thanks Cheryl, I'm stopping the Paxil because it has too many side effects ( at least for me!) The worst being horrendous(sp?) nightmares every night! I have these "Friday the 13th" movie-type dreams every night, wake up in a panic and can't get back to sleep. So I'm getting by on about 5 hours sleep a night. I also am suffering from "Restless Leg Syndrome". Besides the Paxil, I take Xanax, but it's a relatively small dosage (.5mg 4 times a day), I also stopped that a few years, but weaning off that was nothing compared to the Paxil. Maybe it's just me, I'm not sure, but I HAVE to do something different. So, it's tough, but I'm trying to keep my head above water! Thanks for your concern!

Hi les. Sorry you are having such a rough time. How come you are going off the Paxil? Curious because I recently started taking it and its helping me alot. Are you on any other meds? I had a horrible experience when I was being weaned off of Xanax so I know what you are feeling. Rest assured that it will get better. 5 more weeks seems like an eternity but hang in there. You will beat this. If your wife isn't being supportive, keep coming in here to vent. We'll listen and be here for you. Cheryl
