Lester,
According to Dr. Stuart Shipko author of Surviving Panic Disorder, he is a strong advocate against SSRI's in general since the pharma companies have mislead the public in the beginning stating its non habit forming, etc, and failed to mention the extreme withdrawal effects, headaches, tremors, brain zaps, recurrance of anxiety when actually is SSRI withdrawal, insomnia, mood swings, to name a few. There is a site that helps others, as Dr. Shipko states SSRI withdrawal is 10 fold worse than Xanax withdrawal. You may wish to visit www.quitpaxil.info for advice from others that are experiencing the same in tapering off their dosages. Yes I have been on it, and it does have a place for panic, but when your ready to come off it, be prepared.
