Another day and am hoping that these anxiety attacks will soon go away. I look forward to checking inon the support group. Maybe we will be able to help each other. Callie

Hi Callie. I seem to go in cycles too. Earlier in the week I managed to get out and go to a few shops, then yesterday I tried to do it again and flipped out. I have good days and bad days and don't have a clue on which days they are going to fall!

I know that the negative thoughts are what sets us off, but somehow they are there. For some reson, I have developed a fear, which leads to anxiety, when I go to mass. I used to go every morning and out of the blue, it petrifies me. I went this morning and thought I would have to leave because I felt so anxious. I stuck it out and when I got back in my car to come home, I could feel myself relaxing. Right now, I feel so tense, but I got to do something to get my mind off of how I feel. I hope the rest of the day goes better. I seem to go in cycles, I will feel pretty good for a cou-le of days and just when I think that I got this under control, it begins again.

Taz and Callie, thinking your going crazy is one of the most common fears that people with panic and anxiety have. I use to think I was going crazy all of the time and my mind was going to snap at any minute and I was going to do something like jump off a balcony or over dose on pills. This is all just a part of the panic. My doctor asked me once do you want to kill yourself? I said of course not that's the whole point I'm scared of doing that. She said Pam, people who kill themselves aren't scared of it otherwise they wouldn't do it. When you are crazy you don't know you're crazy, you think everyone else just doesn't get you. We are sane people who have learned bad coping habits due to our personalities, past experiences, bio chemical imbalances, and stress in our lives. Try writing down in a journal each time you have a negative thought and this will help you to keep track of what triggers the fear, so you can see the pattern of negative thoughts, so you can stop yourself before the fear gets to bad. I do that and it really helps, I'm at the point where I don't have to write things down as much anymore because I can catch myself right away now when my mind starts getting over in areas where it doesn't belong.

Hi Callie, I often think I'm going crazy too. In fact yesterday and today I've thought that quite a lot - which is a negative thought so I should really replace it with a positive one. I too, really wish I could get over this. I'm currently trying herbal medicine to try to calm my nerves since I had no joy with orthodox medicine and medications. I'm hoping within the next few weeks I'll get better through using herbs but at the moment I feel like ****, just another bad day I guess!

I think you both may be right. The first thing I think about is how I feel. Then I lay in bed for a while and think, think, think. I am alredy wondering how I will feel tomorrrow. Maybe I am crazy. Wish I could get over this thing. Callie

Hi Callie, It sounds like I'm the same as you. Morning are always the worst time for me. Its the time when I get the most stomach aches. Usually if there is anything i have to do like going to the shops, I try and put it off until late morning early afternoon. I find it hard to relax in the morning and do feel at my sickest at that time. I think for me personally its anticipating what the day will bring. From the second I wake up I'm wondering whats going to happen today - sometimes I don't even realise I'm thinking it! I think it is this thought which brings on a lot of the physical symtoms. I too wonder sometimes if this 'thing' will ever go away. I've gotten a grip on it before and led a 'normal' life for periods of time so I do know that it can get better, I just seem to keep relapsing but that could just be because I don't practice any techniques to keep myself in a good place. Pamela suggested replacing negative thoughts with positive ones so I'm going to give that a go - maybe you should give it a try too. :)

Callie, This definatly does get better. If you don't mind me asking what are you usually thinking about when you first wake up? Do you immediately start thinking about panic or how yesterday was a bad day I sure hope today is different kind of stuff? I'm just curious because thru therapy I have learned that once I think it, then it happens. I bring it on myself and am now learning to not do that anymore.

Taz, thanks for answering my post. Today is another one of those days. Am trying hard to get settled down, but somehow I feel like I am fighting a losing battle. I will have a couple of good days and then out of the blue, I feel lousy again. The mornings are the worse. Can't understand this. One would think after sleeping and getting some rest, you would feel better. Sometime I am so tensed up that when I begin to unwind, I feel sore all over. Does this thing ever really go away?? Callie
