2Tone and AuntDeb - I completely agree. And I think this is something that we all need to remember on our bad days. That this quit is not the only thing in our lives. We still live each day with family, friends, co-workers, and strangers. We are still influenced by the world. Smoking did not stop us from having bad days. We simply covered them up a cloud of smoke. So now, we learn healthier ways to deal with our problems. Because we will always have problems. We have to take control of our lives in whatever way we can, and this quit is a great way to show us we are in control. Hey hempfiend - Youu know what I found out when I quit? No one really gives a crap that I quit or not. If I smoked tomorrow, I'm not sure that any one would notice. True. I read stories here of friends and family who (seem to) care, but no one really does. You're an adult and you'll do what you do...you quit for yourself, no one else. That's why this site is so popular. The only people who can relate to what you're going through are people who are going through it. I just quit talking about it to everyone. Another thing I notice about us recent quitters is that we blame every little damn thing that happens to us on smoking (mood swings, good days, bad days, etc.). Believe it or not, non-smokers have good and bad days all of the time. A bad day has nothing to do with the fact that you quit smoking 21 days ago. Trust me, you'll have bad days after 21 years. -- 2tone My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/26/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 88 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,487 Amount Saved: $484 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 14 Mins: 22 Seconds: 33

Hi everyone! WHOA...This is a very powerful discussion. Thanks everyone for writing. I have been away for awhile, I've had a few smokes recently. I find it interesting the fight for survival with this drug, my ego, quilt, self-pity etc. You will notice I have not started my meter over again - it`s because on paper at home I understand I am only 198 days quit because of the temptaions I have given into in the meantime. Fooled by over-confidence and self-righteous behaviours. Funny thing is at the 4th month mark I thought I had it all licked - despite the fact that I had read over and over again people sharing stories of falling to their knees in desperation on an 8th month craving that left them crippled with anxiety and fear of giving in. Nah, not me, I'm simply a dummy head for giving into temptations and believing my cockey attitude could set me free from cigs....WRONG!!! This brings me to the point of adding to this conversation. A quit is personal. No ones business but your own. YOU take ownership of your quit. It is sad when others wish to try to bring themselves into your world and tell you EXACTLY how well or poorly you are doing. Never mind...we are ALL unique...we are all working to reach for the same star...freedom from it all...it will happen...because we WANT it to happen...besides, is there written permission anywhere announcing to friends, family loved ones to offer their opinion? I thought support is what we want - not opinion. None-the-less...be well my friends...it`s lovely to connect with you again! Love and Light... Hello Hempfiend Siblings can be a pain in the n**k :gasp:, I hadn't finished when I was so rudely posted, especially if they are competitive and I have found that to be true of a couple of my siblings. Next time they ask, say yep and what's up with you. They will come around with some time. In the mean time change the subject on them and stay healthy with you quit. Thanks to everyone!!! You guys are SO right, this quit is for ME, and ME ONLY!! I think the next time someone asks me if im still quit, i'll just let them hear what they want and tell them Im smoking again...maybe that way they will stay off my back!!!! tee hee... :eg: I'm feeling MUCH better today and actually had a "talk" with my husband. Just telling him how I feel about no one believing in me, and that if he smokes, im cutting his..um.."boys" off..lol He TOTALLY understands and actually AGREED with me! Not such an ass after all.
