When everyone thinks I can not do something it makes me fight harder just to prove them wrong. Show 'em all! p.s. we believe in you My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/8/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 75 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,131 Amount Saved: $315 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 23 Mins: 24 Seconds: 25

Hempfiend, I know where you are coming from, but honestly, think about this for a second. Only about 2-3 percent of those who try to quit smoking actually stay quit. Now, using a site like this increases your chances greatly, but let's fact it... the odds are against us. So why should your friends and family believe in you? Well, the good news is that we DO believe in you! We've been there, we know what you're going through and we know that it can be done and that we are here doing it... together! And like I said, that raises our chances emmensely. So don't worry about what they think. If they're smokers, then they're hiding behind the smoke screen and probably don't WANT you to succeed. If they're non-smokers then they just really don't understand this addiction at all and have no basis for what they are saying. So either way, it doesn't matter what they think. Of course they don't understand. But go ahead and vent here anytime you want. That's what we're here for. Crave the Quit! Hempfiend, this is for you, and it doesn't matter what others do or say. If they're supportive, if they understand... that's great. If they don't...doesn't matter. They won't pay the price for your smoking... you will. It's terrific when we have people in our lives who support and believe in us, but there's something more important than that; that we believe in ourselves. You're looking good. Keep doing what you're doing. Jenn...well, you have just discovered that the quit is a VERY personal thing....it's just about YOU. it doesn't involve anyone else and frankly, what they think or don't think doesn't amount to a crap....this is FOR you and ABOUT you. So you just deal all the cards to yourself! that way you are sure to win! are the friends who can't belive you are still quit smokers themselves??? I see that your hubby is....and it sounds to me like his junky is condoning his continuing to smoke. I have heard the people who only smoke when they are clubbing, drinking, socializing, etc......well sooner or later that turns into smoking most of the time. face it....an addict is an addict....whether he smokes/drinks one a day or a dozen??? Nicontine is a proven addictive substance.....anyone who smokes with any regularity will be in some degree addicted to it. You can believe it or not....it doesn't matter.....are they smoking???? and yet trying to say they aren't addicted???? it's a trick of the addiction to play this game. go ahead and tell 'em to buzz off....this is about YOU....it doesn't make a dang WHAT they say or think! I've also heard that Lainey that there is a gender difference; harder on the women than the men.

Hi you guys! When I quit, I didn't really tell anyone because, to be honest, I didn't think I could quit. About a month or so I was out with friends and one asked if I was still quit. When the others discovered that I had quit, they were amazed. One friend said "Well...if you can quit then anybody can!" I came home and posted that night because my feelings were kinda hurt...but then I remembered that I never believed that I could quit so why would they believe I could. Also, I never told people that I had any intention of quitting.... The good news is: If I can quit then ANYBODY can quit and (really) that is a good thing. As far as support goes, I never looked to any of my friends or family (they would never understand how difficult and rewarding this journey can be)...I am so thankful that I had SCC to get me through the rough spells. You guys are doing great - Don't listen to all those other people (They have no idea!) Hey girls, I have learned the hard way that it is harder for women to quit than men. We're more emotional than they are, and I hear ya about family & friends, I hope they say those things because they know its hard, not that they have no faith in us. Or else they don't know what to say period. It s hard to know how to take their comments sometimes. I leave to the "edginess" we get when quitting. We're doing this for ourselves first and foremost! Keep the quit! ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 18 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 468 Amount Saved: $189.9 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 6 Mins: 14 Seconds: 46

Oh I can feel your pain. I have had these same experiences with my quit. Everyone I tell says...."Wow! Really, I never thought you could do it." My hubby is still quit, but if I mention cigarettes (or even this site)his response is..."Its been over a month, cigerettes should not have had this hold over you" Well, some people need to talk about things while others (mostly him) needs to forget about it. So, I can't talk to anyone, except you guys about this damn quit. And to top it off, we got horrible news today. Hubby was denied to join the Armed Forces due to medical reasons. He really wanted that, more than anything else he has wanted. Now we have no idea how we are ever gonna make enough money to take care of the kids and MOVE OUT OF MOM AND DADS PLACE!!!! Argh!! I just dont know WTF to do anymore. We are so miserable here, and feel so bad about our abilities to take care of ourselves, and our kids. And I can't have a smoke! I don't really want one, but a part of me can't help to think things would get magically better. (Don't worry, I WILL NOT SMOKE, no matter how horrible I feel) So I will be there for you. I knew you could do it, because if I can, u can. And I am. So keep fighting and we will show those men and family and friends what we are REALLY made of. And leave them in the dust. You with me..
