Wow.... I didn't know California was so strick about smoking. It seems like the celebrity magazines always show them smoking...(and aren't they all living in California?) Well.. that is a real motive to quit... i mean... how else can you enjoy anything. Yes it was a bad weekend for me too. Everything aggravated me. This morning, everything aggravates me. I still have smoking dreams. I don't wake up, I sleep like a rock. But they are so real, I got up this morning actually trying to remember where I put that pack I bought just yesterday! Except it wasn't yesterday, it wasn't at all. I just dreamed it. I want this to go away. Just go away. At this point, for sheer interference in life, the quit is as disruptive as the cough. The big difference is, the urges, cravings and aggravation of the quit will get better. The cough can only get worse. Now, if you outdoorsy folks lived in CA, you wouldn't be able to be outside in many places if you smoke. No trips to the park, no days at the beach. No sauntering along the pier out into the ocean. No relaxing drink at the dimly lit bar. None of that. To enjoy any of that, you have to be a non-smoker.

Hi Mercy I remember people reminding me about H.A.L.T. Hungry Angry Lonely Tired These can all be triggers and they sure have been for me. You are probably right...you were tired! I don't know who told me about H.A.L.T. but it did help me to realize why I was craving. Hope it helps you... Take care... Hey Jan, Was there a full moon around the globe or something?? Seems that several of us had a bad go this weekend! Had to give myself heck. Most likely its just a plain old bad day. Everything still feels so new and different. We probably wouldn't even have noticed before we quit. I guess we are paying closer attention to our bodies than we have in quite a few years. It will pass. I feel much better today! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 48 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,224 Amount Saved: $506.4 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 21 Mins: 52 Seconds: 18

OMG Mercy, I did exactly what you this afternoon. I was in the backyard, ready to sit on the swing, when a thought popped into my head. ~~ "I used to smoke when I was sitting on the swing, I could imagine myself sitting there right now, smoking" ~~ And so I went back inside the house, made out a grocery list and went shopping! I felt better for it. I won't make that mistake again. Perhaps I'm not ready to sit in the backyard just yet. Well...maybe in small doses. Mercy, As you can see you're not alone. Many associate nice weather with smoking. A small change in your old summer routines can help you break this association. Hang in there. This is just another learning curve. Danielle ____________________ The SSC Support Team

Thanks guys for the encouragement. I babysat my grandaughters last night. I got to bed super late. It even seemed later as I have been going to bed so much earlier since I quit. I think being tired today added to my crave situation. It is the first time I have been super tired from staying up too late. So..... I think not getting enough rest should fall inot the same catogory as drinking. I read people have a hard time staying off smoking if they drink. Thank goodness I am not much of a drinker at all. But..... I have learned that being overly tired is NOT A GOOD THING! At least not for me. I think I used cigarettes as a pick me up. Well.. It is almost 7pm. I will make some tea and sit outside somemore. Thanks again! What would I ever have done without you guys. I am so serious when I say that. Hi Mercy - I'm not as far along as some of our long-time quitters. There are still moments but they are few and far between. If we do happen to experience one of those bone-crunching craves, we know it will go away. Unfortunately, I don't think there is any dramatic change....it's just that things gradually get better and better. Congrats on 92 days - You are almost at the beach! Mercy, ME TOO! I was sitting on the deck with my iced tea with my shorts and sandals on, the cat was at my side, watching the animals, smelling Spring...and wanting the cig that I always had. There are still ashtrays out there for my guests. So, I had to get my butt out of the chair and do something different. Later this evening I was able to sit out there with my Sweetheart and just deal with the triggers and push them aside. Guess this is why they say you have to experience all 4 seasons. It will get easier, I am convinced. Just need to learn new habits.
