This is day two of the second go around. Yesterday I worked very hard, I had a lot of dogs on Saturday and used Sunday for the appointments that couldn't make it on Saturday so it was grueling. Last night I had a glass of wine, NO CIGARETTE! Then went to sleep. This morning it was still there, along with every other symptom. Those at 200 plus days seem past it all except for minor lingering effects, so I'm probably half way there with the worst really behind me. My concern right now, is that I've started relying on the gum to get me through, and I should be stopping that. It's the step down gum, but still there. It may take me a little longer to get through this all than I figured.

You're absolutely right, dupe. Memory and reality are definitely two different things when it comes to smoking. I could easily turn that "first smoke of the day" into a sweet memory, when in reality, I'd be standing outside in the freezing cold with my winter coat over my pj's. Coughing as I tried to get that first puff under way. All the while thinking, "I shouldn't be doing this. I really should quit." THAT was the reality of it. And that's much easier to think about too! Not one puff ever for me! No matter how difficult it seems at times. The good definitely outweighs the bad!!!! Jan, I think what you might be craving is a memory. We tend to remember the good things and not the bad. I think back and remember my hot morning coffee, sitting back lighting that first smoke, letting it fill my lungs sweetly and feeling sooooo relaxed. But in reality my coffee was lukewarm because I had to get the kids up and going, I sat on the cold cement steps in our garage to smoke, and I usually coughed with my first smoke of the day. Memory and reality tend to be quite different. Just a thought. Have a great day. Hey, Try..... Boy do I hear ya! Those are some unexpected BOOGERS aren't they!? I still have the desire to smoke occassionaly. They cannot be described as 'craves' anymore....more like fleeting thoughts and desires. It would be easy to slip at those times if I found myself particularly vulnerable.... Stay strong. That one puff just may cost you the entire quit. NOPE is the only way to go. Strive toward that! Tryagain, As you can see you're not alone! Many are hitting that rough patch. It's frustrating, it's exhausting but I promise you it will pass. You only have to do this once, if you slip you'll have to go through all this again. Yikes! Be kind to yourself! When was the last time you rewarded yourself? Remember, your brain isn't being stimulated by nicotine anymore. You have to stimulate those pleasure centers to lift your mood. A nice walk and a bottle of water may also help lift your mood and get that lazy gut moving. Hang in there. Better days are ahead! Danielle _____________________ The SSC Support Team

Try, Here's your roller derby partner!!! I'm here to sling ya so hang in there for me. I just came out of a few days of bad cravings and feeling down right depressed. It ended for me yesterday. Oh, I imaging it'll come again until that demon finally gets the message that smoking is just not an option. Then we'll have those urges or passing thoughts that won't be too hard for us to manage at all. Pull out all of those tools that you used in the beginning. Drink that water again, chew your gum, candy, etc. again, post and vent a lot, and keep reminding yourself that YOU'RE A NON SMOKER. It will end. It may last a two or three days but it will end. You know it will. Until it does, take it a day at a time, use your beginner's tools, post, and sleep. Rest is so important because this is exhausting.
