Music as a quit aid

16 years ago 0 481 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Ok here's mine - coz I do regret smoking all those years and wish I never did (like all of us do) and I get a great deal of comfort from the fact that quitting has lessened the chance of me feeling like the words of this song...
Repentance - Dream Theater (Hello, mirror So glad to see you my friend It's been a while) Staring at the empty page before me All the years of wreckage running through my head Patterns of my life I thought I don't be ? Revealing hurt for shame and deep lament Overwhelming sorrow now absorbs me As the pen begins to trace my darkest past Signs throughout my life that should have warned me Of all the wrongs I've done for which I must repent I once thought it better to regret Things that I have done when haven't Sometimes you've got to be wrong Learn the hard way Sometimes you've got to be strong When you think it's too late Staring at the finished page before me All the damage now so clear and evident Thinking 'bout the dreaded task in store for me A bitter fear at the thought of my amends Hoping that the step will help restore me To face my past and ask for forgiveness Cleaning up my dirty side of this unswept street Could this be the beginning of the end I once thought it better to regret Things that I have done when haven't Sometimes you've got to be wrong Learn the hard way [Repentance lyrics on http://www.metrolyrics.com] Just when you're through hanging on You're saved Corey Taylor - "Until that moment, I'd never felt like I'd failed at anything...And I felt like I failed her...And I failed myself, and I failed my children...It's still really hard to deal with." Steve Vai - "I want to thank you for helping me to see my own selfishness and to tell you how regretful I am it has hurt you." Chris Jericho - "I'm sorry I didn't visit you in the hospital, Grandpa when you were on your deathbed. I'm sorry I didn't come to your funeral...I don't know if I was selfish or just too scared to face it. It's one of the biggest regrets of my life." David Ellefson - "I'm here to confess with you that what I did, was wrong... And I'm asking for your forgiveness" Steve Hogarth - "The only unforgivable thing hauls itself out of bed, looks over my shoulder at the bloody English weather..." Joe Satriani - "I really regret not being able to see my friend Andy..." Mikael kerfeldt - "One of my best friends who's the godfather of my daughter, he asked me to sing or play something at his wedding, and I turned it down because I was busy and too much of a chicken**** to do it...And I feel sorry for that, because it was a very very close friend of mine" Steven Wilson - "So, I wanted to apologize to anyone that I've upset or offended.. they're just words, it's just an opinion, but unfortunately, I tend to express it as a fact, and that's kind of arrogant. Isn't it?" Jon Anderson - "I think it's the betrayal...it still haunts me." Neal Morse - "I'm sorry for what I did back then... I was a different person. I really was and I'm so sorry. I wish it wouldn't have happened, but it did, and I'm sorry. Forgive me. I'm sorry..." Daniel Gildenlw - "I guess I'm simply sorry for being me and not you. I so often wish you could be here with me to show me the way" "If we are painstaking about this phase of our development We will be amazed before we are half way through We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace No matter how far down the scale we have gone We will see how our experience can benefit others That feeling of uselessness and self-pity will disappear We will lose interest in selfish things And gain interest in our fellows. Self-seeking will slip away Our whole attitude and outlook upon life will change. Fear of people and of economic insecurity will leave us. We will intuitively know how to handle situations Which used to baffle us We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves" You're only as sick as your secrets But the truth will set you free The truth is the truth And all you can do is live with it
My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 83 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,245 Amount Saved: 207.50 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 1 Mins: 41 Seconds: 54

My quit smoking theme song is I will Survive by Gloria Gaynor. Think about it... At first I was afraid, I was petrified Kept thinking I could never live without you by my side But then I spent so many nights thinking how you did me wrong, And I got strong. And I learned how to carry on.......... That song is so true for me in my quit! I love it! And everytime I hear it, I have to smile a great big smile and turn the music WAAAAAAAAAY up and sing as loud as I possibly can and imagine telling ole' Mr. Nicodemon how much I do NOT need him in my life anymore!!!!! Crave the Quit! Megadeth's song about giving up and moving on with your life (without nicotine). Its a kev uplifting song :) Tears In A Vial This may seem all too confusing How I could walk away from something so rare But you see it got too demanding, yeah And I just didn't care, I just didn't care, if I cared, if I cared Lately, I've been left wanting, but not wanting you Attraction that once was is no longer there, ooh And it sucks to be taken for granted When the veil is drawn so there is only air I had to walk away Give up something I love For what I loved even more And save my tears for you My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 0 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: 0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

Good suggestions. I have a few more, "You're No Good" by Linda Ronstadt "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head" by Burt Bacharach and "Making It" by David Naughton I'm solid gold, I've got the goods, they stand when I walk through the neighborhood. I'm making it, I've got the chance I'm taking it no more, no more faking it, this time in life I'm making it Any others. I'd really like to compile a bunch to put on my iPod. Not a huge Michael Jackson fan any more, but I've always found "Keep the Faith" to be a really up-lifting, motivational song. >>>> and when you think of trust does It lead you home to a place that you only dream of when youre all alone and you can go By feel stead of circumstance but the powers in beliving so give yourself a chance I know that you can sail across the water float across the sky, any road that you take Will get you there if you only try so keep the faith, dont let nobody take you down, just keep your eyes on the prize and your feet flat on the ground keep the Faith, because its just a matter of time before your confidence will win out You got to keep the faith >>>>> My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/10/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 121 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,257 Amount Saved: 726 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 12 Mins: 14 Seconds: 53
