My name is Maxie and this is my first day. I smoked for 29 years and quit for 3 years. I've smoked for another 2 and I'm giving it another whirl. In the 3 years I quit the desire never left me. And yes, I am patching it. When I quit before I used the patch for 3 weeks. Quiting is all a thought process. Wish me the best and my best to all others trying to live a better life. This is the greatest support group ever! I used smokes as a reward for completing chores. Now I'm using you. Second day and I'm doing fine. My experience is that the first few days were fairly easy. It was the later days that I found difficult. Maybe because you tend to start felling better. I love the NOPE! Thanks all for being here.

Welcome Maxie to the SSC and congratulations in the most important decision of your life. Read a lot and become educated here about this addiction of ours. Education is power in winning this fight. (auntdeb here, 56,,,grandmother, cold-turkey quitter for 10 yrs, started back like a fool for some stupid reason and during menopausal problems....had I known then...what I know now (LOL),,,I WOULD BE A 25 YR NON-SMOKER) Maxie...God answers prayers in his own way... I probably am here...to help you! I feel like a Non-smoker now...not really a quitter. I used Chantix prescribed by an MD. I just quit taking the med about 3 days ago, so far...so good. good luck with the patches....if you run into "anything" that gives you grief....come here and post. Get it off ;your chest and ask for advice or just scream your frustrations out...we are here to listen. I recommend that you read tons of the posts past and present to delve into what this addiction is and how controling it has become to us. We all know what you are about to go through and we are also here to lend an ear and whatever we can to help you stay smoke free. auntdeb :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 76 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,833 Amount Saved: $361 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 13 Mins: 13 Seconds: 8
