Patty,
You CAN do this and we're all here to help you. This is site is wonderful....like a community of folks who are just now become NON SMOKERS and others who are farther down the road. But either way, we all know what it feels like to quit and we all support and encourage each other.
Patty, start drinking lots and lots of water. It flushes your system and helps with the cravings. Get your goodie basket ready for that "Hand to Mouth" thing. I'm diabetic so I have to use sugar free candies. Others use raw veggies and things like that. Get plenty of gum, toothpicks, straws, sunflower seeds, peanuts, or whatever YOU want to use. I had to get a lot of stuff because I get bored with just one or two things. Then, when a craving hits, drink lots of water and have your goodies ready. With each craving, get up and move around, inhale deeply through the nose and exhale out through the mouth, say a prayer asking for strength, etc.
Make sure you get rid of all cigarettes and ashtrays. Get rid of the cigarette smell as much as you can. Use candles, incense, etc.
Prepare your house/car, get your goodies ready, your water, practice your breathing, and post, post, post. Talk to us, we're here for you and read as many posts as you can. Work the tools under Quit Program Tools on the left.
You can do this and we're here for you.
