Just one...

17 years ago 0 8 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Right now Im sitting here trying to rationalize having one cigarette...this is my first 24 hours and I know my sister smokes so I can easily take one from her. But I wont... because I know how much this means to me. It means freedom from something that has been weighing me down for so many years, the one thing in my life that pisses me off. NOPE. Im going to do this Cold Turkey NO nicotine! (Sorry....guess i needed to use the site as a sort of journal blog)

Hi mellers! Wise choice, to come here and "blog" out your crave! What you just went through - it actually doesn't get much worse than that. Cool, huh? Because if you can make it through THAT CRAVE, you can make it through the next one and the next one... Stay pissed off! Stay stubborn! It's not "giving up" something good, it's (like you said yourself) GAINING FREEDOM! You can do this!!!!

Mellers: Good job -- writing it down for all to see and hear makes it real, doesn't it? You got through that very well. Now, listen to KATY. Note her stats meter -- over FIVE years AND more than 74-THOUSAND cigarettes NOT smoked!! Wow!!! But the best part I've learned from Katy's posts? She pulls absolutely no punches -- even after all this time, she's still angry about nicotine addiction and it shows. I LOVE it!!! She will tell you the straight scoop every time. Thanks, Katy! Go get 'em, Mellers! Mellers, I'm glad you made it through the crave. You may be vulnerable right now. Hang tough! Keep posting. This is your first 24 hours and in a lot of ways your toughest. But, you've got a lot of things going for you right now in your quit. One of them is motivation, and fight. You can make this happen. You said you wanted to do it. I think you can make it happen. Build yourself a strong base. No one said this was gonna be easy. YOU CAN DO THIS!!! Hi mellers I think you already guessed...there is no "just one". Every time you smoke, you delay the withdrawal symptoms...making it worse. Get all that rotten nicotine out of your system and come enjoy your smoke-free life! Great job Mellers. The just one syndrome is just the thing that leads us all back to addiction. Whether you are in your first 24 hours, 24 days or 24 months. There is no such thing. You are also doing a great job of using this site. I STAYED glued here my first month or so. And when I couldn't be here, I pretended I was here and "posted" in a notebook and answered myself! It worked - here I am more than as year and a half later. And yes, the freedom is "dee LISH ush"! Get up and MOVE....take yourself from where there are smokes available! Get your armor on and get in control! You CAN keep saying no! It's merely the choice to NOT light up. Who's in control??? if you smoke you let the junky run things....if not YOU stay in control.....get pissed about the possiblity of loosing your control....don't let that happen! Distract and delay....then reward......distract and delay....then reward. hang tough and keep kickin butt Katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1851 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 74,072 Amount Saved: $10550.7 Life Gained: Days: 244 Hrs: 5 Mins: 14 Seconds: 11
