Anticipation/Expectation

21 years ago 0 215 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Thanks Cheryl Today, the anticipation of the rain made me more uneasy, than the actual rain. While it was only sprinkling, I actually left a little earlier. The rain was almost nothing...we'll see on the way home. It seems to me that the first 5 minutes are the hardest. After that, I seem to calm down considerably. Putting my head against the back rest helps a LOT. I feel somehow stabilized and the breathing is definitely better. How was your commute this morning, Cheryl?

Today was somehow different from last week. I didn't feel near the panic at attempting two days in a row of reasonable comfort. Today's commute was reasonably comfortable!!! Woohoo!!!! On a level of 1-10, it was about 0-1.... EVEN when this butt hole....on a two lane road, passed without enough time to get back in...Actually I only saw it when the car in front of me pulled over to the right, very quickly, to avoid the oncoming car. Somehow I didn't even flinch..I could see that he was getting back in his lane, well before being a threat to me. Is that odd? I mean I didn't even feel even a slight reaction...maybe I saw it too late, I dunno.. I only know that it did not cause me to panic. This route that I am using is actually far more relaxing than the freeway, except for the occasional stupid drivers, but then they are everywhere, anyway!! I mean this guy had about a mile to go, before it spread to two lanes, and yet, he had to risk passing? Those people really irritate me!! So, two days in a row, with relative comfort. Now, I must be cautious not to set myself up, if I should experience something less tomorrow, or the next day. Actually I'm already becoming anxious as they are talking about torrential rains tomorrow. All I can do, is tell myself to slow down to where I feel comfortable, and well if someone behind me is upset, oh well!! :confuse:

What would be a HUGE challenge and I've thought about if for awhile...my daughter goes to college about 100 miles away from where I live. In the 5 years she's been there, I've never driven there or back...unless someone else drove... It'd be really cool to be able to drive there in June for her graduation...take the b/f with me as a coach, but to do the actual driving.... It's high volume traffic, with about 3 major freeway changes...up a steep grade that I've mostly always avoided...I bet if I could do that, it would certainly open other doors :gasp:

I think thats a good idea. You seem to be doing well now. Meds are weird, what works for one, doesn't for another. So when are you going to drive the 18 wheeler?

Thanks Shannon!! No, since I had a good experience yesterday and today, I want to see where that takes me....before getting meds. I mean, I've heard it takes up to 2 weeks to kick in? I'v also heard that side effects may include dizziness...hmmm I already have that a bit....so I'm a bit hesitant. I think I have to be at the point where the anxiety is worse than possible side effects of meds... I'm not there yet...but if I do, I'm not THAT opposed to taking meds, esp because I think it would be short-term. :) Guess I'd ask her for the med that has the least possibility of vertigo. My b/f took Paxil for about 6 months...he frequently felt dizzy, and said it affected his short-term memory. I do realize, though, that all meds affect all of us slightly differently.

Kitcat, You've got it down. Your positive attitude is awesome! Did you ever make a Dr. appt.?

Getting off subject is a great thing Trish. It means we are focusing on the daily routines of our lives instead of worrying about our next attack!! The weather was great for us in VA this weekend. I had to work saturday but I did do some Spring Cleaning on Sunday. It feels great to sit at home when its sparkling clean. Gonna have to give that Clorax pen a shot. I see it on the tv all the time. Funny you mentioned the bath. I normally take showers but I use to take bubble baths all the time. I'd turn on the exhaust fan to drown out other noises, grab a book or magazine and just soak for half an hour. I actually did this twice this weekend. It was soooo relaxing. One day I even worked on my breathing while I layed back with my eyes closed.
