I am new, frightened, sick and unsure. This site has been a lifesaver, no put intended. I have been reading some threads, you guys are so funny, real, smart and inspiring. This really helps. Thanks for being there.

I feel that way today todash. This is the song I heard at 1 am on my way home from work. Rock, loved it. Artist/Band: Smith Mindy Lyrics for Song: Fighting for It All Lyrics for Album: One Moment More You can try to keep me down You can try to keep me under But you'll never get my will, You'll never take my will to fight 'Cause I was born at the bottom of this mountain I'm scared and I'll probably climb it , Climb it till the day I die All the things I know I needed Just keeps me going All the things I never had Just keeps me wanting it more Fighting for it all I know I'm not that pretty I'm only avid smart With an overwhelming uncanny need just to need to survive But you can dig a grave six feet under But you'll have to take me up 'Cause you know I won't be going high All the things I know I've needed Just keeps me searching All the things I never had Just keeps me wanting it more Fighting for it all I never had a hero Never met a saint And there's nothing on this earth I can take with me Anyway All the things I know I've needed Just keeps me going All the things I never had Just keeps me wanting it more Fighting for it all Fighting for it all So, you can try to keep me down You can try to keep me under But you'll never get my will, You'll never take my will to fight I should go out and buy the CD and Carr's book......... Todash, I thought about you/this thread on the drive home. I almost felt like My Dad put this song on the radio. I jotted it down when I got home. Never heard it before but I'll find the lyrics (I love Rock and I love the lyrics you posted). Be back. This one's for Becky, when you feel like the only person in the world going through this. This community is an absolute godsend. Welcome and hang in there! 'You'll Never Walk Alone' When you walk through a storm Hold your chin up high And don't be afraid of the dark. At the end of a storm Is a golden sky And the sweet, silver song of a lark. Walk on, through the wind, Walk on, through the rain, Though your dreams be tossed and blown. Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart, And you'll never walk alone, You'll never walk alone. In my sixth day and I feel FANTASTIC! Wishing you the same :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 127 Amount Saved: 27.5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 11 Mins: 14 Seconds: 1

Sorry I was AWOL yesterday, felt like I was about to jump out of my skin and absolutely exhausted - typing was NOT an option! These are all great, I keep trying to come up with more - got one today, was practically singing out loud during my 2 mile walk to the train - 'Don't Stop Til You Get Enough' only change the lyrics around to 'Don't Stop Til You Give It Up!' Couldn't stop grinning like an ijit! ;) Keep 'em coming, let's fill this Reformed Junkie Jukebox! I was thinking about what's been keeping me going these three days and one biggie is listening to great music with a great message. Would love to hear your favourites but a few of mine are: Sheryl Crow - Change'll Do You Good Nina Simone - Ain't Got No (I Got Life) And the big winner, for the lyrics alone... Eminem - Lose Yourself Lyrics include: * "Success is my only option, failure's not" (love it love it love it - sorry for vulgarity but it's good for those 'angry moments!') * "I cannot grow old in Salem's lot" (love the irony re: Salem the brand of cancer sticks and of course the vampire thing from Stephen King's book!) * "So here I go is my shot, feet fail me not this may be the only opportunity that I got..." * "You better never let it go - you only get one shot do not miss your chance to blow cos opportunity comes once in a lifetime!" Never let your QUIT go. Never never never. Please share your greatest quits, I mean HITS, I'd love to add to my MP3 player! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 60 Amount Saved: 11 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 5 Mins: 19 Seconds: 6

My favorite "quit smoking theme song" is "I will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor. It was already one of my favorite songs BEFORE I quit smoking, but then after I quit, it took on a whole new meaning for me. First I was afraid I was petrified Kept thinking I could never live without you by my side (Oh, how many times have I felt that way!!!) But I spent so many nights thinking how you did me wrong (Mostly on this site!!!) I grew strong I learned how to carry on and so you're back from outer space I just walked in to find you here with that sad look upon your face I should have changed my stupid lock I should have made you leave your key If I had known for just one second you'd be back to bother me Go on now go walk out the door just turn around now 'cause you're not welcome anymore (That part of the song really gets me because I remember the first time I screamed "LEAVE ME ALONE!!!" I wanted this addiction to leave me the hell alone! I felt crazy for screaming at myself, but I felt a lot better after that - guess there IS something good about craziness! LOL!) weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye you think I'd crumble you think I'd lay down and die (Despite what you think, you will NOT die from quitting! Although in the beginning, it might feel like it.) Oh no, not I I will survive as long as i know how to love (And as long as I have this site) I know I'll stay alive I've got all my life to live (And a lot more of it now that I've quit!} I've got all my love to give and I'll survive I will survive It took all the strength I had not to fall apart kept trying hard to mend the pieces of my broken heart and I spent oh so many nights just feeling sorry for myself I used to cry Now I hold my head up high (That line hits me too because I DID feel so sorry for myself after quitting. And I DID cry. And now I DO hold my head up high! That's the best part of this whole thing - the pride we get from being successful) and you see me somebody new I'm not that chained up little person still in love with you (So true!!!) and so you fel
