Hi Teen, Good post. I also smoked for 32 years. I enjoyed reading your story. Yours, and everyone else's stories are what makes this site so great and so encouraging. Keep up the good work! this no smoking is getting easier i never thought i would say that. Although i have 58 days behind me, 28 days of that have been with no NRT as i stopped the patches myself after 30 days ,through choice. I had come to a point in my life for the first time ever , to make the decision to stop. Yes it is hard at times and i still get the crave , not for a cigarette , but for the hit it gave me. I know the two things are the same , but i have to separate the thought. I cannot have a cigarette ever again, for me the decision has been made . Every day is a smoke free day and i cannot look any further at the moment. Day by day, sometimes hour by hour I have had some real bad days . Days when i thought i cannot feel like this anymore . I have sobbed , lost sleep , come out in spots all over my face, shouted and lost it loads , felt sorry for myself , but the main thing is I HAVE NOT HAD A SMOKE. I made the wrong decision in the first place to smoke , but now after 32 years i have made the right decision to NEVER SMOKE AGAIN. I cannot go back now . It would be easy to go back believe me , but to what ?. It did nothing for me but took away a part of me . It scared me into believing i needed it. It was a bully , it took my money and then hurt me and it did that for 32 years . Well i have finally hit back at that bully and stopped it in its tracks . The bully only comes back once on a daily basis and even then only stays around in the background for half an hour. Its loosing interest in me now and moving on to someone else. I have no doubts it will keep coming back for the rest of my life , its a battle of wills and i know i have to keep strong. I'm winning thats the main thing. i am so proud of myself . Well done everyone and keep going..... Day by day hour by hour/ My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/10/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 58 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,051 Amount Saved: 261 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 8 Mins: 56 Seconds: 8

Teen, I could have written your post. I feel exactly the same way. You did a great job of putting it into words. I'm soooo happy for you. Isn't it great to be free from the constraints we had as smoker's. The freedom from smoking is what I love the most right now!! The health benefits in the future are going to be priceless. Keep up the great quit!!!!
