So glad you've stayed here with us Kimmylou! And I want to echo the rest of the folks here that your quit is yours and your husband's is his and each quit is as unique as the quitter. Now, having said that, do please talk with hubby and lay in some ground rules. Not least of which is, if you're going to hide smokes, don't let the oldest know so that you won't get finked out again! Seriously, he will hide smokes if he wants to smoke more than he wants to quit. And if he's doing that already my hope for his quit is not high. So protect your quit with all you have, and know that whether he smokes or not, you do not have to choose do to so any longer. Arm that new baby quit with all the information and support there is here, and we will do it together. Parrotlady IS a riot! Glad you are still with us, Kimmy! I've been 'quitting' for about eight months now... I do believe I am getting it right now. The first few falls were like yours---I used a fight with hubby or my kids rotten behavior as an excuse to light up. How silly! Keep up the good work---you can do it! Keep going dear one. And remember that this is YOUR quit and noone elses. Forgive your husband - all of us who are addicted have done that or worse. I would never lie about anything, but I LIED over and over about my smoking. That is what addicts do. They lie to themselves and to everyone around them. Back to YOU. Forget whether your husband is quitting or not. This must be a very personal decision between you and you. You must decide that you love yourself enough to give yourself this greatest gift. You must decide that you want it bad enough to go through all the horridness of withdrawal. You have to decide that you want to live more than you want your next fix. You have to decide that you are an addict, and understand what withdrawal entails. You must decide that no matter WHAT life throws your way, you will choose another option other than smoking. You have to believe those of us who went before you that this is possible, that success is doable, that ANYONE can do it if they just don't smoke. Reward yourself often and hang on for dear life. The freedom on the other side is de licious. Kimmy, Thanks for your honesty, and to all members we are here to help not judge so we welcome experiences that we can learn from. Don't be so hard on yourself and give yourself a break :) One puff will not set you back to the beginning, but it will make you learn. Remember this is your quit so don't be so hard on your husband, he will quit in his own way. Make some rules that you can all live by and stick to them. You are jumping right back in there and this is great! Take the time to communicate with each other and know that anger and negative feelings can be a symptom when quitting.
