Missed writing on Day 3 but here I am on Day 4.

I have slept 75% of the time since Saturday morning when I quit. I am taking chantix and it helps a lot but sometimes I sleep through some of the doses. Sitting here, I feel I want a cigarette while I am typing this and doing my homework, but I am realizing that it is the habit part. I always smoked when I was typing, heck I smoked when I was doing anything. I asked my husband when I started, not to say anything to me. Dont say good job, dont ask how I am doing. The answer was obvious and I know I would look for ANY excuse to smoke. I have hunted and tried to puff out a couple of really old cigarette butts that were pretty much just filter. Then I said this was stupid and I was being stubborn. Sometimes I get a little angry at myself for cleaning out all the cigarettes since I cannot find any, and I have thought about going to the store. But I havent. I told my husband last night that I really missed it. It was kind of like losing a friend. He said he knows and that I was doing a good job. I can all ready breathe better. And honestly, I think this is the best sleep I have had in a long time. These last 4 days feel like I have been without a cigarette forever. It feels as if weeks have gone by. But I know that most of the Cravings are not the nicotine in my system anymore, it is my brain looking for something to make it happy or think it is happy. Watch a funny movie and laugh or even cry. You will find that you start to get more energy to. Though I am ready for another nap. Thank goodness I have a supportive family, they understand that I need to sleep a little more and that I have come this far. I have gone out and bought a bunch of snack candy with the money I have saved so far, I only nibble so dont use gaining weight as an excuse. In a couple more smoke-free weeks I will be starting my new eating habits and exercising. Hang in there and enjoy the power of sleep. You are doing great Monica! If you need to sleep just go ahead and sleep. What ever you need to keep the quit. It's great that your family are behind you and that they are being understanding. Congradulations Monica, You are doing a great job. So sleep if that helps. When you dig through the ashtrays try talking to yourself, like what the He-- am I doing? I hate being a slave to cigarettes. Ask your husband not to leave any butts behind. jnine My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/14/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 25 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 518 Amount Saved: $68.75 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 9 Mins: 22 Seconds: 45

Monica, Keep up the great quit! When you feel like you've lost a good friend, remember that the friend you are talking about has been working to kill you since you took that first puff. Instead, take great joy in being able to breathe better already! Not to mention the fact that you probably smell a great deal better too! Stay strong and continue to push through those tough moments! You should be very proud of your accomplishments this far! Monica, Congratulations on your 4 days, now 5 days. Just 2 more and you will be through HELL WEEK. Sleep all you can, and be thankful that you can sleep. I know those first days seem like eternity, but just keep doing one day at a time. You're doing great. I'm happy that you have a supportive family. I will be thinking of you and your determination... Monica, Thanks for sharing your honesty with us! This is a powerful addiction, but you are not a losing a friend only gaining your health. Take the time to set up a reward for and treat yourself for completing the first week. Give you husband a quick hug and thank him for his support, he can already see you look and smell better :) Josie ____________________ The SSC Support Team.
