I guess I need to go back and review a few things about what to expect and maybe get the timelines down. I know It is not "normal" to have all these (smoke) chemicals in my body. But, when am I going to feel "normal" again? the last time my body felt "normal" I was 15 years old when I started smoking. I know it is still way early in my game. I have done real good with coping skills, it is just a continuous battle, every once in a while I get this feeling of panic, kind of like when you went somewhere and forgot your smokes kinda feeling, that feeling isnt the average crave that I've been getting. I mean it is an all consuming wave, that doesnt last long, mind you, but the frequency is just getting old. Thanks for hearing me. Nothing too normal feeling during the first few weeks but you really do need to be in this for the long haul. I liked that serenity prayer for quitters where it said to accept whatever comes. You just have to accept the craves, the anxiety, etc., and they will pass. It takes time. My experience in quitting a number of times in the past has been that 3 weeks is a milestone, then something like 2-3 months is another one, then maybe 6 months is the last one. That's just me - you'll probably be different. The first three weeks are pretty much a smorgasboard of blah, hell, heck, anger, dizziness, toothpain, etc. There is a dessert tray at the end of the smorgasboard. It has rice cakes with a sugar cube glued to the top. Get the picture? Accept that there aren't going to be a lot of great moments too early in the quit. That said, know that the great moments will come. So, keep your head down, don't look back. Link up arms with the rest of us and keep on slogging down the path. It's not easy..nothing important ever is. Please keep reading and posting here. It's made a difference for me in what I know is my last quit. This forum is just like Carol King's song..you just call out my name..and you know wherever I am..etc. Anyone, anytime, can call out here and know that someone will respond, when family, friends, who don't, haven't, did it so long ago they can't, won't, guilt trip etc. This is real. We were there, we are here. Hang in there! The first week is the worst and it does get better. I remember thinking how long will I have to fight this urge??? It does slowly go away. You can do this! You are taking to quitting like a duck to water! I admire the grace with which you are quitting. I go for periods of quiet brooding to outlandish fits of rage and hysteria.... CONGRATULATIONS! You guys are doing so well!
