Hi Mary, At times it seems nothing anybody says matters. This may be one of those times. That's why you should read each of these responses THREE times. You have a TREMENDOUS quit going and YOU are really worth fighting for!!!! Stay strong and seek the help of your physician if you feel you have sunk into depression. I want to pass on some advice that someone gave me long ago (though as you can see I did not listen) You can't stop the cravings, but you can live through them. They are just a feeling and feelings can't hurt you. You don't have to ACT on a feeling. Just let it go. Also if you smoke then the cravings never stop. Come on throw them cigs away. It's just a bump. 73 days is alot to throw away. I'm only on my first day. But I'm not throwing this one away. NO matter how many times I've gone through this I've learned one thing. If I keep smoking it's never over. Mary you don't want to be a smoker. You don't, not deep down inside. Quitters are strong people, your a quitter not a smoker. Come Home. Just come back home. Hi Mary Congratulations on reaching day 73 - that is fantastic. During that time you have made countless choices and decisions to not smoke. Can you make one more just for now - for the next hour. I am truly sorry to hear that you are feeling so down - things seem tough at the minute. Be gentle on yourself. I echo what has been said before here and especially phil's points - could you unravel the last 73 smoke free days and go back to zero and how much will it really help. My heart goes out to you today - you will be in my thoughts. Take good care, be gentle and just allow your feelings to be what they are. All the very best Sharon My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/14/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 23 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 233 Amount Saved: 61.87 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 23 Mins: 6 Seconds: 54

Mary, That's it??? Hi gang, I'm smoking again... I quit quitting and goodbye? Come on. You fought for 73 days and were winning. You know as well as the rest of us that if you wait, you may never quit smoking again. You are slowly killing yourself you know. Smoking isn't going to solve any of your problems. You are going to be twice as miserable now because you just gave up 73 days of freedom. I'm sorry to hear that you are giving up on yourself. Fighting for your life is definately worth it. The freedom is awesome and you many never experience that now. Very sad indeed. I hope you come back real soon. This thread is complete with a Ladybugg story. How anyone can smoke after hearing one of her stories is beyond me. Ladybuggs stories saved me a few times. Get back on the wagon Mary. Hi Mary, I only have a couple of things to say. 1. Take one step at a time and do not think of this quit in terms of forever. Quit for the next five minutes. When you are done with that, do another five. 2. Do not light that next cigarette. Kick, scream, break dishes, punch a pillow, whatever it takes. Just don't light that next cigarette. Some days just suck but they did when you smoked too. If you can do the two things above, you will succeed. Let us know how you are doing. Mary, much as you may think you've left the sinking ship, nobody from this site will let you drown. It took me over an hour to track down this thread made originally by Ladybugg in May 2005. In my opinion it's one of the best threads ever made. ************** There once was a man. He walked for 90 days. He walked hills and valleys. He crossed oceans and deserts. He helped many people and many people helped him. As he was trudging along, he was collecting stones. He planned on using these stones to build a house. He found a lot of stones. He knew exactly how many stones he needed to build his house. After walking for 80 days this man came upon a bridge. Under this bridge there lived an evil troll. The troll did everything he could to make the man fall into the water. The man held on to the railings with all his might and didn't fall in! But the troll did manage to cause the man to slip. When he slipped, he lost a stone. Just one, mind you. It fell in to the water. Lost forever. The man was frantic. He was so upset with himself! How on earth could he build his house without that stone? He just didn't think the other 4074 stones mattered without the one he lost! He started walking again, despondent and alone. For 10 more days, the man walked. Ten days. During that time he considered dropping all the stones, one at a time. But something made the man hold on. Those stones had cost him too much to accumulate. He thought of those first days when the hills were steepest and the oceans widest. He had worked so hard to accomplish this gathering of stones. But still, the loss of that one stone caused him so much despair that he couldn't see the amazing thing he had accomplished! 90 days after the man first set out, he came across a group of his friends. These friends helped him to see many things about his stones. Each stone had it's own value. Each one was important in it's own right. If he had had to pay for these stone, they would have cost him $869...the one he lost was less than 22 cents. That meant he was 99.9876% successful!! Do you know what that man did? He set to work trying to figure out how he could make his house without that one stone! He decided to just leave it out of one of the walls! The absence of that on
