I am going to be having my first smoke free Turkey Day. My family will be able to enjoy being in my home smoke free. They will be so happy. Oh and I'm talking sense they were born. Like 35 to 4o years. It will be so great. I'm just going to stuff myself with food. Don't have to worry about my smoke bothering anyone. Hey Nic, This will be my first smoke-free thanksgiving too. I am just focusing on the food. I will stuff myself silly and instead of going for a smoke I can actually partake in the family walk that happens. No one else in my family smokes so it should be another nice smoke free day. And of course I will have my gum, mints, water, and word searches with me as well as inspirational posts from all my friends here. We can do it, just remember N.O.P.E.~Valic My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 20 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 103 Amount Saved: $106 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 10 Mins: 38 Seconds: 13

Wow, Joy---you do have reason to be thankful! We all have a lot to be thankful for...including the opportunity to quit smoking. I am having ALL the family at my house, again. Except my oldest daughter, who has volunteered to help out at the homeless shelter. I find that so admirable and I am proud of her for that. Have a blessed Thanksgiving my friends! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 75 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,769 Amount Saved: $600 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 18 Mins: 9 Seconds: 13

Hi Nicodemon, I wouldn't quite say nervous is the word for me. When I first quit smoking, I remember saying I HAVE to make it to Thanksgiving. See, I go camping with many, many family and friends. And only my friends knew I smoked. Believe me, I hid it well. So this will be the first time I do not have to worry about having the next smoke, or even getting caught. I am extremely excited about having a smoke-free Thanksgiving. However, I will be on guard. Knowing that I had to make it to this holiday, will make nicodemon try his hardest to get me thinking.... Well, I will not let that happen. I want Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, my Birthday, Easter, etc........ to be SMOKE-FREE!!!!!!!!!! Have a wonderful holiday! 4my2girls My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 261 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,849 Amount Saved: $853.47 Life Gained: Days: 21 Hrs: 1 Mins: 15 Seconds: 29

Holidays can be challenging when you are recovering from an addiction. But they don't have to be. Double up on your homework before the big day: review your reasons for quitting smoking, remind yourself of your coping mechanisms, and remember how strong you are to have gotten this far! Arm yourself with the best affirmations for you. Be proud and know that there are millions in this battle with you. If you are afraid, that's okay -- just look that fear right in the face and walk right through it. You can do it!!! Nico, Let yourself be treated and eat what you want. Don't worry about the weight! Take the time to prepare for this day and use those coping mechanisms to help get you through. Enjoy yourself and your family, relax and be thankful :) Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
