Am I doing wrong?

Thank you allclear, I know that you are right, we start out so motivated and ready to kick this addictions butt and then day by day with anything new in our lives the newness start to wear away. So I quess I need to figure out how to keep it exciting and interesting every day. I have thought about using the money daily that I would have spent on ciggs for something small to atleast keep the motivation going for a couple more days anyway. I have bought some small stuff like books, magazines and some new body lotion. Maybe I should continue to do that for now at least have something to lookforward to. I can't wait until the day I awaken and the thought to smoke seems like such a far fetched memory. Not going to smoke this weekend though.going to beach with husband instead and just hang out and relax for a couple of days. Hi Allclear, I really believe that the trouble I had was due to cutting down to 5-6 a day and then going straight with the 21 mg patch. I decided to not use the patch for a day or so and see how I did. I am making out okay and hopefully the nicotine is gone. But today I am really having a hard time concentrating for some reason. Not that I want to smoke but that I can't stop thinking about smoking. What is going on here? I had been doing so good, or was I just so full of smoke that I thought I was doing okay. Today I felt really teary and frustrated all at the same time. I am doing my best to keep a good attitude but am really frustrated at everything and everyone today. I am keeping the quit though. Thanks for all the great advice guys, BOD I read and re-read your advice from the book makes alot of sense to me. I have done well with no NRT atleast for these past 4 days and today is day 5. Think I have beat the nicotine part the hard part is the mental part of beating a breaking a 32 year habit, I smoked with everything I did, driving, taking a break at work, reading a book, watching a movie, talking on the phone. Now I am finding new ways to fill the time, still at times will reach for the case I kept them in and realize it is gone. So now I know that it is all about beating the mental habit part. Thanks again all I am making out okay for today, and I will not smoke today. Hi everyone, Well it is day two with no NRT. I feel okay I am getting a little agrivated at work some of the girls here seem to want to hen pick me today so to say. I think they all know that I am on the edge of a break thru with this nictoine addiction and they seem to just want to make my skin crawl for some unknown reason today. I had a nice peaceful lunch and then came back to craziness in the office. Anyway no nrt for 2 days and I think I am making it anyway. Jnine thanks for the info concerning the Chantix, have heard alot of good reports on it. But I really hope I can beat this thing this time with some good old fashioned will power and knowledge from some past failed attempts. I will keep it in mind though, thanks for the info. When does the crankies stop????? thanks for all the quick responses. I am feeling much better now that I have removed the patch. And am hell bent not to smoke, husband has been a great motivator and called to tell me that he is with me all the way. threw his pack out the truck window on the way to work today. I think I am just going to stick with the wellbutrin, by the way I started it 2 weeks ago sorry forgot to give complete details earlier. Actually I am doing pretty well without the patch for now, think I just want the nicotine out of my system as quickly as possible. I have heard alot about drinking lots of water to flush the system, so if you guys think I have disappeared I will probably be in the ladies room most of the day. Ha/ha thanks again for all the responses. I love knowing that I have a soft place to fall when I am feeling overwhelmed. Cigarettes Not Smoked

Well, I have been all pumped up to begin this quit. Had cut down to about 5 a day by yesterday. Got up this am and put on my first patch a 21 mg after about 3 hours with it on started having terrible headache, nauseous and very dizzy with blurred vision, got scared and took the patch off. Thank goodness my husband called about the time I removed it, asked how I was doing today and I told him about the symptoms he told me to take it off. My desire to quit is still strong and I am going to try to quit using just the wellbutrin. Any suggestions - is this considered cold turkey? And just how long does it take for all nictoine to be gone from the system? Hi Katie, I'm sorry your body didn't react very well to the patches. I'm sure it was a bit un-nerving, but very happy to hear that your resolve to quit is still strong. If you will be using the wellbutrin, then it's not considered cold turkey, as cold turkey is when you stop and don't use any form of NRT. Personally, I didn't use wellbutrin, but I have heard from alot of people here who have, and had great results. Reportedly, nicotine is gone from your system in about 72 hours. Hold tight to your resolve to remain smoke free, keep your chin up, and face that nicodemon with all you've got. You can do this. Show him who's boss! Hi, I don't understand why people can take nicotine when it is in a cigaret and when they use patches they get sick. The patches have nothing else in them than nicotine. When a person smokes he or she does not get sick and when they stop and take the patches they do get sick. That doesn't make sense to me at all. Hi Katie, Pleased to hear you are doing so well with your quit. It sounds to me as though the symptoms you had were a nicotine overdose. Perhaps a lower dose patch would be a better option, but its best to speak to your doctor or pharmacist first. If you find that you are surviving quite nicely with any NRT's then good on you. I quit cold turkey and although the first three or four days were tough, I got through them with support from family and got all of the nicotine out of my system. from that point on the battle is psychological and a with the right mind set easier to overcome. be strong...you have made a great start and it sounds as though your husband is there with you all the way.
