Stardust!! Yes, you are going through high stress and so what! Did this cigarette ease your stress? for how long? I'll bet there are more depression, anger and frustration that came after a rather brief pleasure! We all know this cigarette is a liar, cheater and a backstabber, so get your "S@#$ together and hold our hand TIGHT, we are going on this journey!! I'm begining to develop a very different attitude toward "slips." It just kills me to see such wonderful people beating themselves up over them; it's like the Puritans have taken over again. I'm a theologian (albeit an addicted one like everyone else), and I see slips and sins in the same kind of off-the-wall way: sin is our friend inasmuch as it reveals our weakness and without meaning to, urges us toward growth. "Slips" are the same thing, are they not? Do they not reveal the weakness in our own quits and show us where we ought to be spending our strength and resources? What would happen if instead of saying, "Oh God, I'm such a loser, shoot me now," whenever we experienced a "slip" (gotta find a better word), we said, "Yippee! Now I know where the leak is; I can plug it." We're taking the long view on this, right? We're committed to the long-term quit, even though we know we can only get at it one day -- one crave -- at a time. So in the long view, what's one slip? The cool thing is that we come back to this safe and nonjudgemental place where we can find all the help we need to fix the leak, name the culprit, and move on, better and stronger than before. Call me crazy (and you will surely be right on the money!), but sometimes I think slips are more to be celebrated than cursed, at least for the people who come back here after experiencing one. Just my take in a very scary and foreign territory. (The quit, not the slip.) peteg My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 692 Amount Saved: $71.5 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 10 Mins: 16 Seconds: 11

Hi everyone, Well, I hate to tell you all that I slipped. I had to put gas in my car today (which I have been putting off as long as possible) and caved and bought a pack of cigs. My anxiety level has been very high, to the point of pain because my muscle are so tight! It is all psychological I know but that doesn't make it go away. Didn't help that one of my brothers called me last night and was bugging me about why I haven't started divorce paperwork yet. Sometimes it is a pain having five brothers, all with an opinion that they think you just need to know! I know these are stupid excuses for buying a pack of cigs but that's the way it is. I just have to forget it and start over again. At least one cig won't make you go thru the physical withdrawals again. Unfortunately the mental withdrawal is much harder. Thanks for listening and I will try again. Peteg, You're right. Looking at it that way does make sense. In the big picture one slip does not make you a failure and helps to know what area makes me vulnerable. Hi Windy, Wow, thanks for taking the time to check. That made me feel good. I am taking Wellbutrin. I don't think I would have lasted this long without it. Having three days of free time is not a good idea right now. It is much easier when more time is taken up by work. I'm not giving up yet and good thing tomorrow is Monday. Never thought I would say that. I exercise on a treadmill and a Bowflex 4 times a week but I think you are right, need to add some yoga for relaxation. Thanks Windy.
