Sudden attacks

Stubtz Those 17 days not only mean a lot to you, they mean alot to me. What you may or may not realize is that as I see other people gathering days I gain an affirmation in my own quit. For me this is because I realize that other people believe the fight is worth it (and it most assuredly is) and seeing that belief demonstrated in other people stengthens my resolve to continue my own battle. Thank you for the 17 days quit, if your friends don't know how hard that is to do, there are many people here who appreciate and recognize the work that goes into each and every hour and minute of those precious days... Stay strong with me here and we will both be free of this thing in good time... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 31 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 761 Amount Saved: $217 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 21 Mins: 31 Seconds: 49

Stubs - Seriously, what kind of friends offer you smokes when you're trying to quit? They're jealous, man. You doing something they can't. You scare them and you're letting them get to YOU when it's you that's getting to THEM. As for the anger attacks, I get them all the time. As you adjust your emotions without smokes, you'll be up and down. I've been extremely agressive, lately. Hang in there. Find a way to use all of that energy to your advantage. "...chew up their head and spit it back in their.....neck"...man, that's funny! Lighten up and enjoy the wild ride of quitting. -- 2tone My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/26/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 29 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 835 Amount Saved: $159.5 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 21 Mins: 41 Seconds: 42

Stubz, When that urge comes out of nowhere, WALK AWAY! Shake your head and it will go away. Your mind is at ease when these urges come on, so do something. Read, go out side and scream, kick your feet, do anything and do it quickly b4 the urge gets the best of you. Keep your mind occupied cuz the urge wants to occupy your mind. Its all in your head my friend. Remember what you are doing when that urge comes out and then avoid that situation. But my gosh, dont let it beat you. You are 17 days into your quit and you are on your way. So, get tough and be strong. Remember, its a mind game, so play the game and win. Give your mind something else to think about, change your ways of living. I mean, what ever you did b4 you quit, weather it was watching TV and smoking or drinking coffee and smoking, change that, dont drink coffee, that could be a your trigger point, eliminate it if you have to but fight that urge! Good luck, keep the faith and you will do ok. Nice work Stubz. I know it can be trying at times, but each time we make it through another craving, we're one step closer to being smoke free permanently! Hang in there, and take as much rest as you can get. Your body needs that right now. Thanks! I am trying to hang in there. I need better friends, who don't offer me a cigarette when I want one, as though it's no big deal I have quit, and these past 17 days don't mean crap to them! Sorry! I need extra sleep, like for 10 days straight. I want to call off work and curl up in bed and be lazy. I might do just that Friday! What is with the sudden attacks? I swear, I do just dandy with this quitting smokin' thing these days and I would just like to know why out of the blue I get smacked with a crave that is worse than a whole week of craves! I mean, taste it, smell it, want it, ache for it! I have had two major episodes in 17 days. That, to me, is great! But those are the kicker!! I had to call my husband from the hair salon the other night because I was dying for one! I come out on top! That's pleasing. But seriously, the sudden attacks are completely overwhelming, I don't know whether to laugh, cry, sing, dance, hide, scream, or what! It is like I have absolute no control over my emotions and I believe my I have muscle spasms (lol just major hand clenching, and figeting, no need for 911 lol) for a bit and all I can think about is a cigarette. I have done okay so far, I just hope they lighten up! I worry that if someone made me mad at one of those times, they would lose their head, and that could be dangerous! I would chew up their head and spit it back in their.....neck I guess, becasue they wouldn't have a face! I am sorry, just need some relief today! :eg: My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/7/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 17 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 355 Amount Saved: $59.5 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 5 Mins: 13 Seconds: 58

Hi Stubz, I will keep a little distance here so as not to get my head torn off and chewed up.. :8o: Seriously though, the cravings come out of nowhere and smack you up-side the head. I became very familiar with the little monster that kept rearing up it's ugly ole head at me and each time beating it back down with whatever I could get my hands on. Now you know what happened to my iron skillet! It can be quiet un-nerving at times and you just have to let it know who's boss. Good for you for hanging in there. Keep up the good work. Proud of you. Many years ago I quit smoking. There were no aids in those days, no gum or patch. It was all cold turkey. I remember getting a crave so bad in the middle of the night that I actually put on a robe and went out to the pool area to search through ash trays to see if there was a butt big enough to light up. I should have been ashamed of myself. I wasn't. Yet, you know I still quit and stayed quit for three years.
