This tuesday, election day is going to be my quit date. Is their a signifigance to election day? No, just a week from going to doctor for bronchitis and sinus infection. that in itself was an indicator that after 25 years of smoking it finally is catching up to me. I told my doctor I want to attack quitting with all available resources. I am currently taking wellbutrin (thats why I am delaying quit date) and will be on the patch. I knew that I would need support as well, and through the powers of google I am here. And boy am I glad I found you guys! This site is incredible! I am on step 4 and will be filling out my smokers diary starting in the morning. A little about myself : 40 ys old, male, married (to non smoker), have 3 beautiful girls 3, 8 and 13 ys old. live in san diego area. ok, I just proofread my post and I might sound a little overconfident, it's just my way of gearing up. I look forward to having a kind shoulder to lean on when I need it, and the favor will be returned. Thanks Kevin

WHEW!.....I did it! I really did it!...1st smoke free day in 25 years! What a rollercoaster of a day! It really is a great feeling. Now, I have had my cravings, breathing exercise helped every time, I mean I would get a craving and like a fart in the wind , it was gone! One question, I felt kinda spun out, I guess like a tweeker, or too much coffee kinda feeling. Is that the meds? the patch? Or just natural energy level, lol. Anyway thank you guys for your support, I knew you guys would whoop my ass after this setup to my quit date!! I feel great I didnt let you down!! and myself! Kaitlina, how ya doing my sister..... Last night was 1st w/o smokes I was tossing and turning. I figured it was the patch and took it off and slept like a baby. In the morning I had my usual gotta have a cig 1st thing crave, but knew the patch was going to be on soon, and that got me through that crave. All in all day 2 was better than 1st.....until...I gotta call from wife and our water heater busted and flooded the garage...Great. But it must be the wellbutrin or something because I just said (use your best cheech and chong voice here): Whatever, man, we'll just get a new one...man. Now the question for today is: Was it wrong of me to look at the smoke rising from the freshly soldered plumbing fitting and think mmm wow...mm...that kinda looks good?! Now it is time for just a wee bit of ass whoopin! Now Kaitlina, My partner, my comrade, you see the day I had? Now, are you on any "mood altering" products like Zyban or wellbutrin (same product)? It might be worth looking into. I dont know if it's the patch or the drug, but any edgy time I have is short lived and does'nt escalate. Like last night I snapped and said something real crappy to my wife, she turned around and I just put my hands up, "my bad..dont know where that one came from". however, I am only on day 2, I have (im sure) many very hard days ahead of me. Take slow, deep breaths, in through the nose, out through the mouth. It has meant the difference from passing that store up and not for me...so far. Now did that sting Kaitlina? not really? I'll leave a welt next time you hear? Don't let that half a smoke deter you ....the important thing is you littered the freeway with a whole pack of unburnt butts! And that took alot of guts! I mean if I fall off this wagon it's gonna be ugly! lol, So it's N.O.P.E. for me and you too now right?! Wish us luck tomorrow day 3..The magic day...The day "if you can just make it past" day. Thanks again guys....Kevin   My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 38 Amount Saved: $5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 6 Mins: 25 Seconds: 9
