i've been awake for a couple of hours and not smoked. instead of getting out of bed as soon as i woke up to go outside in the cold for my first cig of the day, i stayed in bed with my almost 2 year old. we tickled each other and hid and played "boo!" with the duvet, and generally just laughed alot and had fun. then after he got bored of that and went to play with his toys, i came on here because i really quite wanted a cigarette. not that i would smoke one, but the craving was there. it's starting to go away. i think i am gonna make some breakfast, then have a nice bubble bath and listen to my stop smoking hypnosis cd! i think i just need to keep myself busy for the next couple of days as a big reason i smoked as much as i did was boredom and needing something to do with my hands. happy new year to everyone! sarah My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 0 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: 0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

not sure about the cd yet, it is by paul mckenna and its a hypnotising cd. i decided not to listen to it in the bath incase i fell asleep - wouldn't have been that safe! i am a big fan of hypnotism, for relaxation mainly, so even if the cd does nothing for my smoking, at least it will chill me out. right now i am wound up so tight i am just about to snap! when i listen to it i'll let you know if it's any good. sarah My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 0 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: 0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

'Morning Sarah, There you go! Instead of a smoke you had quality time with your little guy :) A tickle fight huh? Awwwwwwwwwwww...soooooooo much better than a smoke ! And you are right on track -- keeping yourself distracted with lots of things. Bubble bath and a cd is a wonderful distraction ! Keep it up hon with the distractions and play all day long with your little one and make some extra special down time distractions for yourself too! Stay strong and know that we're here for you :) (((((((((((hugs)))))))))) Monica58 My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 62 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,247 Amount Saved: $558 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 0 Mins: 11 Seconds: 50

Happy New Year Formyson. You are doing a great thing. The first few days are rough. Sounds to me you have great inspiration and a little distraction. This is gonna sound simple, but it is true and effectived. When you think of smoking, distract yourself. Do anything but smoke. I have 2 kids. They are alot of my reasons to quit. When I thought about smoking, I thought of all my reasons for quiting. I also had a list of bennifits to quit. I kept them close always. In fact I can still recite them. When all else fails- Come here and post, wait for a few responses Hug or tickle fight with kid. Breath Never forget to take time for yourself Rewards...... (so important, you can have small ones planned for overcoming a crave. med for a day, then larger ones for milestones. week,2, 1 month.ect N.O.P.E Not One Puff Ever Keep close, let us know how it is going. Formyson, Hang in there, you're doing great! Distractions will be your best friend in the days to come. If you've got a lot of extra energy whether it be anger or anxiety related, take some time out for yourself and get moving. Take a walk, a run or anything else you can think of that will help you release some of that extra energy. Congratulations on your first day! You're on the right track. Don't forget about your rewards! Keep close. Danielle _______________________ The SSC Support Team

Sarah, I used to be up at the crack of dawn simply to smoke those first 2 of the day. Yes, two before I left for work, one on the walk to the railway station, one when I arrived at the other end and one 15 mins later with a work colleague. A complete waste of time, energy and health. :( You mentioned a CD, which one is it? Is it any good? Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 322 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,670 Amount Saved: 2415 Life Gained: Days: 52 Hrs: 12 Mins: 44 Seconds: 41
