Lack of Sleep

Fatigue is just about the route of all evil for anxiety to thrive on! I’ve found this too. Looking back on things, all my worse days have been when I’m tired. The importance of a routine, or at least a rough plan, is something I quickly learned! Like you have both said, you feel yourself slip or test yourself and you’re quickly put back in your place. Hehe. It’s a good point to be at though, when you can test yourself. Because you can look back on everything and say “ha, this actually works!”

I agree... I "test" myself often too. Like I'll purposefully pump myself full of coffee and let some of the nervous system hit me and so it will force me to cope and realize the harmlessness of the symptoms.

Hi Jason, Oh Yeah!!! I found myself slipping just this past week, I strayed from my "routine" of keeping busy during the day, and extended my caffeine later than usual. I was in the same predicament. Toss and turn, maybe a half hour of sleep, constantly waking, thoughts seeping into my head. Then the next day, I was fatigued, didnt want to do anything, go anywhere. I realize that when I start to feel better, I sometimes "test" my routine by letting things slide, only to find it makes it worse. Im not doing this on purpose, but it sure puts me back in my place! Whenever I stay up all night or get less than 3 hours of sleep, I tend to be more tense than usual. My avoidance goes up and I have more anxious thoughts. Does this happen to anyone else? Last night I couldn't sleep, and I started thinking "oh no. Now I'll be tense all day. I may have panic attacks. I won't be myself and people will think something's wrong with me." I'm recognizing these are the thoughts in my head and I'm doing my best to refute them every time the thoughts come up, but it's still difficult some days.
