Whatta cranky hag I am today (PS where's my cough?!)

17 years ago 0 37 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I cough about once a day. It's hardly a real cough and more like the wimpy effort Derik Zoolander gave in that movie. I don't miss the the real cough.

Hi ToDash, I am so glad that you are feeling better. Your post has put a smile on a lot of faces when nothing else would. Let me know if the corn thing works for weight gain. I may hold a record of 5 pounds in four days :) Also when you get pregnant let me know. I will send you some Dum Dums and save your husband the trip. Besides you might need him to go out and get you some ice cream are something. So funny, and you got out a rant. I totally understand you on the can of corn, or just soup. Sometimes I feel that fat too. Ah, Interesting! I'll draw ye a map so you can send it home to me! I had a dream last night that the cough actually came. I woke up excited to be coughing and what ho, I wake up and have none. Sigh. So it's time to write that prayer...here goes (deep breath) Oh Cilia dears, how sorry I am For smashing you down again and again For making you sticky with tar til you choke I've done it, but guess what? I no longer smoke. So think of my efforts when you try to stand To blow in the breeze as I take a breath in I'll send you some fresh air, I promise, I do! So HEAL, my darlings, like the ark Two by two! I feel a small tickle, it comes when I laugh But a dry cough is just not enough, (not by half) It's been 21 days, three weeks is a lot Just fight back, my dear ones Show me what you've got! I'll eat lots of corn I'll eat lots of herring (But not on the street, other folks would be staring!) When the day that you're standing, so tall and so true Finally comes I will still be apologising to you. I'm so sorry dear Cilia For the damage I've done But give us a break, hey? Just a cough. Only one! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 20 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 467 Amount Saved: 110 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 16 Mins: 58 Seconds: 41

Holey moses, whatta mood swing. I stepped down from 21mg to 14mg patch on Sunday, got through Sun & Mon ok, then today was ok until the commute home from work. Of course everyone's relatively nasty then anyway but magnify by day 16 as a non-smoker and whaddaya know, I'm a maniac tonight. Let's see... * I hate EVERYONE right now. Yeah even you! (But I'll love you tomorrow..forgive me, I'm sure you understand!) * I'm fat fat fat and I'll never eat another meal again. (Not eating more, 30 min of exercise 5 days a week just like before, but still gaining weight slowly but surely, this really sucks.) Ok, maybe I'll eat tomorrow. Ok, tonight. But it's SOUP. Or a can of corn. That's it! * I'm joining a dance class after ten years away from dancing that was preceded by fifteen years of living and breathing dance. So DH should know immediately what it means to me, and should be really happy for me, right? Well he didn't turn cartwheels and hoot and run up and down the stairs with glee when I brought it up, which resulted in various one sided hostile conversation (let's play 'Guess the instigator!') with him saying 'are you picking a fight?' (UM...YES. Sorry babe, I'll love YOU tomorrow too. Now go make your own dinner! But make me some CORN. One can, no butter please.) And WHERE IS MY COUGH???? Where is my brown crud?! 20 years a smoker, 16 days without and I've got no more than a slight tickle yet feel like I went through three packs of Lucky Strikes yesterday. Then I read somewhere it can be up to NINE months to clear out your lungs. Anyone have a 'prayer for my recovering cilia' handy? I'll print it out and tape it to the insides of my glasses. I need to cough, man! GIVE ME MY COUGH! My brother in law (another fine quitter let us all say amen) was still coughing a bit after nearly two years. Gosh can't wait for THAT. So will I smoke again? After all this? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Rant over. All my love, this too shall pass. x Todash PS As Eminem says 'success is my only (bleep!) option, failure's not!' Irritation over, life's to short to hold a grudge with a message board. IMPORTANT BULLETIN...BALLET BASHES THE BLAHS. PEANUT BUTTER IS AS GOOD AS CORN FOR DE-(CENSORED!)GING ONESELF. OH, AND GRAPES. GRAPES ARE GOOOOOOOOOD. IF YOU RETURN TO THE KITCHEN FOR TWO OR THREE AT A TIME, YOU'LL SPEND SO MUCH TIME WALKING BACK AND FORTH, YOU'LL FORGET YOU WANTED A CIGARETTE. GRAPES ROCK. Thanks for the corn N2K! After all that, I had a peanut butter sandwich! What a basket case. Call the Anger Management people, new student on the way! Anyhoo I'd be cruel to not explain what I was on about with the corn thang. Comes from the days of singlehood, during a call to mom (also single at the time) while in the bored-can't-be-bothered-to-make-dinner-for-one. So I said 'I don't know, I think I have some leftovers in the freezer, what did you eat?' Mom pauses, then says 'well...(I can just see her, one eye squeezed shut, head tilted, thinking hard, looking up at the ceiling, then in all seriousness she comes out with)...four cookies, an apple and a can of corn.' Then I'm on the floor holding my stomach laughing, the tears pouring out of my eyes. And it was so ridiculous, it's now the standard reply any time someone mentions getting a bit to eat. So now that I'm married, not many options to have a can of corn. Have to do the cooking , and frankly just WASN'T in any mood. Poor hubby of mine, one of these days I'll get pregnant and he's REALLY in for it! (Cook your own dinner! Me, I want three candy canes, a jar of herring and an orange dum dum pop! Don't sell them in England? You best be off to Heathrow my dear, I'll see you in a week!! Then while he's away, I'll go have a can of corn. :p Can of corn = fundamental comfort food, and boy did I need comfort the other day. Today, I feel FABULOUS again. Go figure. 'Life is a rollercoaster, you just gotta ride it.'
