Montgomery County, MD, a suburb of Washington, DC, went smoke-free a year or so ago. People howled -- especially bar and restaurant owners -- but reports indicate that business is booming on all fronts.
Funny thing, when I go out (I'm on the Virginia side of DC), I like to sit in smoking sections -- maybe it's just a bit of nostalgia on my part. I still like hanging out with smokers, I guess --- I smoked for a whole lot more of my life than I didn't smoke. Luckilly, though, when the ban hits the rest of the places -- and it surely will -- it won't affect me. That's something, anyway.
