I really wanted to smoke last night.

17 years ago 0 1 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Well, I am on day 20 and last night was the first time in ages that I didn't want to smoke! I was sitting there doing a puzzle with the kids and a commercial came on the TV for quitting smoking and I looked up and said "I didn't even think about it tonight"!!! I think I am well on my way! I just got the phone with the mobile home park manager. All leaks are fixed and should full water pressure back in the next 2 hours. No more stressing out over water I hope for a very long time. Otis

I have been smoke free for a little over three weeks and I was doing pretty well until Monday when this mobile home park I live has been turning off our water during the day to find a break in our line. Well last night they didnt turn the water back on at all and I was really stressed out. My husband went down to the store to get some water so we could flush the toilets. After he gets back I found out he didnt get any drinking water. I asked him to back down and get drinking water. He looks at me and says what you afraid to go to the store and told him if I go to a 7-eleven right now I would buy a pack and smoke. So I go back into the living room take two calms forte and drunk what water we had left and watch the news. I was calmed down in about 10 to 15 minutes, but still did not trust myself to go and get drinking water. Husband finely went and got the water. After it was all over with I thought to myself yea I could have smoked a cigarette, but what would that have accomplish? Not a thing. The water would still be off and I would have felt miserable because I would have blown another quit. Hopefully the water will be fixed today. Otis

Good for you, Otis. For sticking to your guns and not smoking. Sometimes we're tested, and you know, you're right when you say smoking won't solve anything. It won't change anything. Hang in there, and hope your water is back on today. Good for you Otis. that's what happened to me last night I had to get bread and because there was no other adult to go get it and I was feeling sorry for myself, I did cave. Will be back on track tomorrow. I will! If you know you can't be trusted you know and you made the right decision. Keep trucking and good luck with water. Stress will be there whether we smoke or not right?

Otis, You passed this test with flying colors! Stress is a trigger for many and will challenge our resolve. You deserve a reward for sticking to your committment! Some members do notice a few days of adjustment when stepping down in dose on the patch. This is temporary and it will pass. Sharkins, Congratulations to you as well on 20 days! Three weeks tommorrow, start planning your reward! Your both making wonderful progress and winning the daily battles! We couldn't be prouder of you both! Keep fighting the good fight :) Danielle _________________________ The SSC Support Team

Otis, good for you. I have been in the same place many times and have lost my quits because of it. Congrats on staying firm with your quit. I went though crap one day last week and told my husband I didn't trust myself to leave the house. I stayed home. But it is being honest with our quits that help us stay quit. You did good ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 45 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 454 Amount Saved: $135 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 3 Mins: 20 Seconds: 45
