Mrs Angry checking in. Angry, angry, angry!

oh my gosh... I should have read this post first. I just posted one called....'OUTTA NO WHERE". I woke up angry and I am a mild tempered person. I hate the way I feel today. I have nothing to be angry about. My anger is still here...but it helps to know this may be normal. I am on week 4. I don't want to blow it....but I am not sure what normal is today. Well folks, you've heard this before but it got me through a very tough 4-day weekend. If I smoke will it help? Of course not! I had to think about that several times and I always answered correctly. It is not going to help any situation and you just have to convince yourselves of that. If you cave, its just one more problem to cope with. I found this discussion just in time, since at 29 days today I also found myself just incandescent with rage within the last hour. A professional situation -- a consultant we used to use was outraged that we didn't sole-source a new contract but put out a request-for-proposal to several firms. He wrote an e-mail badmouthing me to another executive, to a board member (I work for a binational non-profit) and to several staff. Which of course I saw. There is a CVS across the street and I am stomping on my own foot and biting my nails to keep from going to buy a pack of cigarettes. Cigarettes Not Smoked

I know that rage! The last time I tried to quit I went back to smoking after 10 smoke free days because I was feeling so much rage and being sharp with the kids I figured it was healthier for the family to start up again. his time I'm on Wellbutrin and I feel zero rage which is what is keeping me going and making this quit so much easier. I know the rage was linked to my quit because I've never been that angry or felt so pissed off at the world. Hang in there and if it doesn't pass maybe you can talk to your doctor about it. Tutti here and I'm following up on my earlier post. It's so weird how one minute I'll be coasting along through my quit and doing okay. Then, in only a matter of minutes, I'm so snappy, mad as hell, and down right depressed. Oh, and I feel like a wimp because I actually want to cry a little bit JUST to release some of the pressure I'm feeling right now. This third day is a living nightmare. No, no, that's not right....It's a living hell!! There is no particular thing that I'm angry, snappy, or depressed about. That's just where my emotions are right now. This roller coaster ride really is maddening. Now I know a cigarette won't make me feel any better, it won't make my dreams come true, it's no cure all, it won't fix any problems, and a smoke will only give me problems. BUT, I still want one. I do. That's a fact and I mean I want one bad. I'm fighting with everything I have. I've drank enough water to float a boat, my jaw hinges are so sore from chewing gum at every turn, I've damn near hyperventilated from breathing so deeply, I've walked all over the office doing other things to TRY and get my mind off of this horrible mood and these God awful cravings, and I think this quit is making my britches too tight!!! And, what's really scary to me is that I keep reading posts from folks who are on their 20th day and more who are still having these moods and awful cravings. Is there NO END in sight? Guys, send me your good thoughts. I really need to be boosted right now. I'd better be able to look back one day and laugh at this post because it's not funny right now. Nope, not at all. Hugs....Damn it, Tutti My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/18/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 195 Amount Saved: $8.37 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 9 Mins: 2 Seconds: 53

Serenity, I'm not going to get philosophical about anger. The fact is, dogs that bark consistantly, and dog owners who won't make their pets hush up, make us mad. Inconsiderate drivers to the same thing. It doesn't matter whether we smoke or not. Those are two situations that piss the average person off. Your anger may be a little more intense right now because of your quit but, I think feeling angry over those types of situations is normal. Wait until you go to the grocery store and someone blocks the isle and seems to ignore you even after you've said, "Pardon me" two or three times. ha ha ha ha You'll be fine. Just hang in there. It sounds like you're being snowballed with annoying situations right now. This is a TEST. It is only a test. To see how you handle anger w/o your cigarette pacifier. How'd you do? The novelty of the quit has worn off. Now, how are you gonna live your life? Angry was one of my most distinguished phases in my quit. In fact, I think at one point I hated almost everybody except my pets (They're cats so they don't bark at night) It's a weird and wonderful journey that we are on.
