Good decision! Congratulations on your nicotine-free life. You've been delivering nicotine regularly to your bloodstream for two months so it's no surprise that you have this reaction now that you have finally dispensed with it. It will be gone from your system by now. Be strong, be positive, be determined. See out this difficult spell and enjoy your new smokefree, nicotine-free life. Well Done! Penitent d1038

flowers good!!! Sorry I didn't see your email til late, but I will add this to what I said: Go to Kmart, Walmart, Target, whatever you have up there...buy one of those long, rectangular planter boxes, some dirt, and some basil, rosemary, and dill to plant in it. Love, Rusty :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/13/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 828 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 23,207 Amount Saved: $2898 Life Gained: Days: 115 Hrs: 7 Mins: 37 Seconds: 33

As much as I hesitate to post...this week has not been a bed of roses for me. I have had lots craves and some pretty strong ones today. I'm sure it isn't that bad...(nicotine addicts tend to exaggerate how withdrawal feels), but I have had to do some sidestepping today...I've yelled and screamed, I've had suckers, I've crawled under the covers, I've sent out a plea for help, and now I'm posting. There has been moments when I thought I wasn't going to make it, but I have and I was reminded that I will soon be returning to the beach, and that perhaps I need a little reward.....some nice spring flowers I think. Doing what I need to do to get through it. Could use some encouraging words. Well today is Day 5 Nic free and I am back to where I was before the patches cames off as far as frequency of thoughts...and no craves really. I guess it wasn't too bad. We addicts have a tendency to exaggerate when coming off our drug. The anxiety I was experiencing on the 7mg patches (which is why I decided to stop using) is much, much better. When I realized that my thinking was becoming really irrational, and I pulled myself back from dealing with demon, I made a lot of headway. I am not gonna get sucked in again. SLAMMED THE DOOR. Think I'm gonna make it. Penguin - You are very inspiring! I was thinking of you on the toboggan hill watching your son - how much freer & a part of this experience you were, as opposed to past times as a smoker. My guess is that as a smoker you would have either been wanting your son to hurry up so you could go have a smoke, or maybe you would have been smoking right there - your ashes ruining the fresh white snow. Anyway - it just reminds me how much better our life experiences are now that we're non-smokers. Penguin, it's purely psychological. It's your psyche's last panicked attempt to resurrect the addiction it has come to know so well. You took that last patch off... and said goodbye to nicotine. And there's a part of you that really doesn't want to wave that final farewell; that part of you that's been an addict all these years. I don't think it's the cigarette you're grieving so much as the smoker you've been, and who has been part and parcel of your identity all this time. Embrace your new life and all the best that's in you, my friend. You haven't lost anything but a lie that was killing you. Seize the day. You're free! I also stopped my patches yesterday. Today has been bad from the first moment. But we'll get through this penguin. It's just a few days of this and we'll be out with this this last bit of nicotine. I'm agreeing with Phil. I think cold turkey may have been easier than doing this 4 times...
