In a bad place, I think

Oh Sparky, I'm sorry. I've lost 6 family members in 6 years. I feel if I lose another, I'll smoke. I'll try not too though. I hope you pull out of this funk. I have no experience to share except life's hardballs every now and again but I'll be watching for your updates. Best wishes, marie

Sparky, I posted one time to attest to the power of Ol Nic. I had a 10 1/2 (+) quit under my belt. No craves, thoughts, desires. Had a particularly bad day. Out of the blue, decided to have 1/2 a cig. I told myself I had 10 years down. I was over it, in control. I could have a cig. If I put it out 1/2 way then I was showing that I was in control - right (notice all the junkie thought points in this paragraph?). I smoked the 1/2 cig. that Thanksgiving day. No more craves, thoughts, desires. That next Feb. in anticipation of a stressful meeting at work I bought a pack. I was in control, right? I could smoke what I wanted and get rid of the rest of the pack. I got rid of that pack and the next and the next for 2 weeks before I had to admit that I had that da-- monkey on my back again. That was three years ago. I'm now struggling to quit since November. It's like i don't even have those 11 years. Why did Ol Nic. rear his ugly head after so long? why did i ever get cocky enough to think i could handle him? Please recognize those junkie thoughts for what they are. You've got a great time on your meter. I slipped this past time at day 40. I just told myself this a.m. (beleive it or not) that I was gonna do whatever I have to do to GET PAST THAT POINT this time. Hang in there with me. Sparky we're here for you hon. There's a lot of bad stuff going on.. I know what that's like and smoking is not going to change a damn thing. You know that.. you said it yourself. Life throws us these curves, and sometimes they're coming at us from all angles and it's hard as hell to deal with it all. But look how far you've come! You are stronger than the desire.. it's in you. You've proven it .. You can over come your desire! Please post and let us know how we can help.. and never apologize for venting.. we all do it.. ((((((((((hugs))))))))) Monica58 My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 6 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 135 Amount Saved: $54 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 18 Mins: 16 Seconds: 25

Sparky, As soon as read this post, which is right now, I am replying. Hang in there my friend. You are doing so well. I understand your feelings, I have been there myself. I KNOW you have the strength in you to get past this. Just hang on real tight, and be real good to yourself tonight. My e-mail's not working properly since yesterday, so I'm getting my son to take a look at. Sparky, I'm thinking of you right now, so just hang in there! Hi, Sparky sorry I don't have internet at my home now, computer went down so I had it disconnected. I wish I could have been here for you last night. Glad you made it, and avoid a bad situation at the AA meeting. Just wasn't the right time for you to be there. I am sure your friends understand. Hang in there this too shall pass.
