Cost of Smoking in New Jersey

17 years ago 0 299 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Thanks all for you support. I really appreciate it. I have actually been quitting and starting for a while. I quit smoking on 10/08/2004 and stated again on 10/16/2005, I know, very very STUPID. I quit drinking on 08/25/2005 and started again on 10/16/2005. Other than that I was drinking over 12 beers a day or almost a bottle of liquor. Now this year was different. Most of the first part of the year I drank about 5 days a week, but there were a few times where I didn't drink or smoke for 3 weeks at a time, then only did it on the weekend, but this month I did it at the beginning of the month then stopped the 3rd than started last weekend then stoppped the 16th. I plan on staying quit for good this time. By now it is clearly a choice with me. I have the power to stop, I have stopped, I just need to stay stopped. I am going to the gym 6 days a week now because I love it and I have a great excersize plan. But I don't think I am ready to diet yet, every time I try I fail and go back to smoking/drinking so bring on the fried chicken and pizza LOL. By the way, I believe week 3 is "weak week" I quit smoking on July 16, 2006 at 7:47pm. It has been 4 days, 13 hours, 13 minutes, and 37 seconds since I quit. Had I not quit smoking, I would have: * Smoked 91 cigarettes (That's like smoking a 25 foot long cigarette) * Spent $19.48 on cigarettes * Inhaled 910 mg of tar * Inhaled 72 mg of nicotine (That's like doing 1,365 hits of nicotine) * Inhaled 1.00 grams of carbon monoxide * Taken an additional 13 hours, 28 minutes, and 5 seconds off my life I quit drinking on July 16, 2006 at 3:00pm. It has been 4 days, 18 hours, and 37 seconds since I quit. Had I not quit drinking, I would have: * Drank the equivlant of 71 beers or 71 shots of Southern Comfort. * Spent $55.42 on alcohol * Ingested 1.64 litres of pure alcohol

Jerry, It's good to see that you have finally gotten under full sail. The cost of cigs is only the beginning of the benifits that you will enjoy. Hell week, Heck week, and now Blah week after they are out of the way its pretty smooth sailing, but you still need to watch out for that tricky Nicodemon because you never know when he is going to show up. Enjoy the journey....... Hey Jerlasvegas, Congratulations on both of your quits! Between smoking and drinking; when did you work? HA! If I am figuring correctly, you were drinking over 12 beers a day? The sun is certainly shining for you right now. Keep up the fabulous work! Auntie, Wow..a new home on your own land. That is soooo exciting. My sister is really into architecture and alternative structures (adobe, straw bale houses, etc), and she told me that most of the newer double wide homes have better insulation than a regular home. That is a motivating reward! I have been around a few AA meetings. It always stumped me that they were so aware of their alcohol addiction, but the concept of nicotine as an addiction kind of passed over their heads? But, good for you and enjoy your new home. The price of cigs! I spent some time in Mexico a few years ago. The meat, veges, and seafood is very reasonable; but if you needed something like cough medicine, or a backpack for school it was $$$$. I think $9.00 for a bottle of cough syrup. The three things I noticed that were very cheap; beer, cigs, and soda pop. Marlboros were between $1-$1.50 a pack. The tobacco companies know that if they are going to get people hooked in Mexico, the cigs have to be affordable. Oh, their diabolical plan! Have a great day, everyone! Fini, that is VERY sneaky! I don't care any more what the price is. Can't afford the gas to get to the cigarette store anyway! In the little town near where I live there is a discount cigarette store owned by a man from Iran. Mr. Mustafa is a very nice man and my husband says that he always asks about me. I do like Mr. Mustafa, but I just can't bring myself to go into his store to say hello. He usually has sales and deals...my brand was around $26-28 a carton. But then I also had coupons that the tobacco companies send. So I could usually get them for $24 or less. That's a $100 a month that I'm not spending on drugs anymore. Jer, you're doing great!!! This is jaw dropping! How can individuals afford to live and smoke! The incentive to save money alone should wake-up those smokers! Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
