Not all quits are horrendously difficult. As Healer says, some of us quit in the easy and gentle fashion.
Quite right too! :) Unfortunately, a recent post from Healer about the "lighter side of quitting" was removed, which in my opinion, was rather unfair. There's nothing wrong with being positive, and certainly nothing wrong in telling the story from the "other side".....even if it does cause a little 'upset' sometimes. Rachel Two years, six months, one week, five days, 13 hours, 23 minutes and 40 seconds. 18491 cigarettes not smoked, saving 4,160.32. Life saved: 9 weeks, 1 day, 4 hours, 55 minutes.

Congratulations stickin to it, I am pleased that it is over for you. I too knew early on that it was a done deal and I am happy to stay here to let the new quitters know that it need not be all Sturm and Drang! There is, indeed, an easy quit option - I know - I took it! Penitent d843

Just bumping this in support of the new quitters amongst us so that they are well aware that quits can be gentle and easy. Please know that many of us here have quit in a quiet and orderly fashion and that your quit may be gentle and easy too. Welcome to this great support site and Good Luck! Penitent d847

Marvellous Cobenfan, thank you. And there folks you have it in 17 words "We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves strong. The amount of work is the SAME". One chose not to smoke and I commend you for that. Likewise, one should now choose to be happy. If you cannot do that because you are suffering from clinical depression, then you should probably spend a little more time on the other support site or consult your doctor. I'll leave you all with another quote which has helped me:- "If you want to be happy, be." Think about it. A Cheerful, positive and very contented Penitent on day 848 without a cigarette.

We are all well aware that some quits prove difficult; there are certainly enough threads here in support of that; and I for one acknowledge that fact. The main focus of this thread is balance, particularly for the new quitters. There are some here like myself who have had a much calmer and easier quit and we feel that it is important that anyone coming to this site for the first time is aware of that possibility too. All quits are different and we want everybody to succeed in kicking the nicotine habit. To do that, I believe that the more information there is available, the better the chances for everyone. So whilst quitting may be difficult for some, it might be relatively easy for others. My sincere best wishes to you, Penitent d849
