Tomorrows the BIG day!!

17 years ago 0 28 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Well day one is here and haven't had a cig since 9pm last night. Not doing too bad, have had a couple of fidgety times but nothing to complain about as of yet. I know it is coming. What I am finding is the habit of it all. I sat down twice at the computer this morning with my coffee and just out of habit reached for my cigs, which of course are not there. I just had to chuckle and think what a creature of habit we are. Just checking in, good luck to all. mama, yes our situations are really alike. It sounds like your mom is at the stage my mom is. She only leaves the house for doctors app. and can't even go to church anymore. I have 4 kids also and the last thing I want to do is end up like my mom. She quit smoking 15 yrs. ago, but it wasn't soon enough. Thanks to all of you for your support and advice. Not doing as well this evening as I was this morning but I am dealing with it. Thanks all, this is something I have made up my mind to do and I am going to do it. I have been thinking and preparing my self for over a year since my mom was diagnosed with COPD. It is a horrible disease and I will not put my kids through it. I have joined this today in hopes of support that I am thinking I will need the next few weeks. I have smoked for about 20 yrs. and have had enough. I have been taking a generic wellbutrin for 2 weeks and am starting the patches as well tomorrow morning. If anyone knows if I actually should start them in the morning or maybe put one on tonight before I go to bed, just don't know what would be best, any thoughts would be appreciated. I have gone 21 days now after 50 years and it does get better and I mean a lot better. From my experience whatever you do dont wear the patches at night.First thing in the morning until bedtime fine but I had ONE night when I forgot to take it off and I had the most terrible nightmares. Perfectly OK all day but NOT at night unless you traditionally have got up in the night for a smoke of course which I doubt! KEEP GOING IT WILL GET BETTER Phil

You are doing the best thing you can do for your health and so much more. It is not easy but well worth it. just always think N.O.P.E not one puff ever, this is what gets me through. I did cold turkey this time but when I did the patches and pills I did everything in the A.M. and took the patch off 3 hours before bed so I could sleep. Everyone is differant so see what works best for you. Kapylak Hi I always put the patch on as soon as I get up every morning, for a while I took it off at night because I was experiencing vivid dreams, then someone told me those go away ,so now I wear it 24 hrs as prescribed and the dreams are gone. Work the tools on the left and post often, and you can do it one day at a time :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 75 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,137 Amount Saved: $300 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 23 Mins: 57 Seconds: 0

Kypalac post often as this helps a lot, bring something with you at the computer maybe a straw cut in two to breathe in or chew on. One day at a time :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 76 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,153 Amount Saved: $304 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 3 Mins: 18 Seconds: 37
