Tomorrows the BIG day!!

Kypalak, We are very much alike. I smoked for 30 years and my mother, who is 73 has COPD. She is very bad and can hardly walk to the bathroom without being out of breath. So she is completly dependant on me for everything. I have 4 kids and I don't want them to have to take care of me and have kids to take care of at the same time like I do. I also can't stand the thought of not being able to breath like my mom goes through. So I quit smoking, 71 days ago, and soon, my whole family was following behind me. My 16 year old daughter quit, then my mother, then my aunt and so on. I just want to let you know that at 71 days, it is easier and I understand it will get even better. You are not alone on the COPD thing, my mom's doctor told us that we have a choice, smoke or breath. That has kind of become my mantra. Smoke or Breath, Smoke or Breath. Welcome! I didn't use the patch but someone that did will be along soon. Hey just think, kypalak~ 20 minutes after quitting: Your heart rate drops. 12 hours after quitting: The carbon monoxide level in your blood drops to normal. 2 weeks to 3 months after quitting: Your circulation improves and your lung function increases. 1 to 9 months after quitting: Coughing and shortness of breath decrease; cilia (tiny hair like structures that move mucus out of the lungs) regain normal function in the lungs, increasing the ability to handle mucus, clean the lungs, and reduce the risk of infection. 1 year after quitting: The excess risk of coronary heart disease is half that of a smoker's. 5 years after quitting: Your stroke risk is reduced to that of a nonsmoker 5-15 years after quitting. 10 years after quitting: The lung cancer death rate is about half that of a continuing smoker's. The risk of cancer of the mouth, throat, esophagus, bladder, cervix, and pancreas decrease. 15 years after quitting: The risk of coronary heart disease is that of a nonsmoker's. Congratulations on your decision to live longer. Just yell if ya need anything. :) All the best~ 2 My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/20/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 372 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,195 Amount Saved: $1860 Life Gained: Days: 35 Hrs: 8 Mins: 31 Seconds: 55
