Scared to stop

Luna- Thanks for sharing Ann's Story. I have been some what miserable the last few days and after reading your post I have the strength to go on for another day. I believe that if I make it through today there is a chance tomorrow will be better. If I smoke Today tomorrow will not. I come from an AA background and I use alot of that program with not smoking. Once again thanks for repeating Ann's story. It is so true. As someone who had awesome support from my man, I'm going to admit that it really helped to have someone to complain to about how crummy I was feeling, who'd give me kisses and tell me he was proud. But the truth is no matter what he said or didn't say, I knew I wasn't going to smoke. His support wasn't the deciding factor in my quit, my commitment to quitting was. And as far as support, this site was more helpful than my fiance, because he'd never even tried a cigarette. Your husband will be proud of you when you've actually quit smoking. Until then, you be proud of you for committing to quit, and we'll be proud too. Good luck. Hi and welcome. I had no support at home either. Here's my story My husband had no clue about addiction. He also was all out of encouragement - I had failed so many times before, he was disgusted. In some odd way this ended up helping me. I had to realize that this quit was MINE and mine alone. I could not be dependent on him or anyone else. I had to want it bad enough for myself! In addition, the conflict between us always got so bad when I tried to quit, that I always returned to smoking. I had to finally get to a point that I was going to quit NO MATTER WHAT happened (temporarily) in aour relationship and no matter what life threw my way (like having to put my Mom in an Alzheimer's home in week 2!) Also, I had no support because I was a closet smoker. And I live on this tiny island where there is no such thing as a gas station, much less a smoker's anonymous support group. Lo and behold I found this site. The people here saved my quit and I believe saved my life. I sat here at the computer most of the first month. I came to terms with my addiction, learned that I was not alone, and was dragged along in blind faith of those who went before me that this really was possible. Banagrace - you can do this. Stay very close. For awhile, make your quit the most dear thing to your heart. This is doable, I promise! Go for it!!!! Best wishes. Banagrace - you are two days into Hell week. How goes it? Well - I know how it goes, it is tuff. But NOONE ever died from withdrawal and you won't either. I am glad to see that determination in your gut and you spitting in the face of ol nicodemon. Go Go Go Girl!! Sick of smelling - glad the story of Ann helped. That's the way to do it, just one day at a time. Find a post or a reason to just not smoke for one more day...and lo and behold, one day you will be a non-smoker!
