You'll be surprised how quickly you'll develop your lung capacity and endurance once you start exercising. I started jogging. Four weeks ago I could only go 500 meters. Now I up to 5 kilometers. I just went a little farther every day. Keep up the good work! ok girls you have the blues, go for a long walk and breathe. Misty I haven't coughed up anything like described here, yark. One thing I can say my lungs are in the best shape they've ever been since I was a baby. To confirm it I had the test done, they measure your lung capacity by making you blow in a tube attached to a computer, I had it done at the beginning and about 2 mths after I quit. Surprising the stats I had on that test, so don't worry, exercise a little more and you'll see the difference. It's all worth it and so are you. Keep on fighting the good fight, one day at a time Hugs Marie :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 79 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,185 Amount Saved: $316 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 10 Mins: 6 Seconds: 2

MistyMoon, They're still doing research, they haven't exactly pinpointed a cause. Some researchers theorize it may be related to an increasing difficulty in maintaining sugars. Danielle ___________________________ The SSC Support Team

MistyMoon, Thanks for the update. You should be especially proud of your quit as diabetic quitters have much lower success rates, but you are proof that it can be done! Grace, Everbody' quit is different. How soon you will reap the health benefits depends on how fast your body has been at healing and readjusting to this wonderful new change!

Grace, Keep in mind your body has to undo and heal all the damage caused by smoking. You can help it along by starting to slowly include an exercise regiment of your choice into your routine. Dawghouse, You're making great progress and I must commend you on your great attitude and perseverance! Keep setting small goals for yourself, you're absolutely right... baby steps = success.
