That makes sense. You have higher blood sugar when you smoke, and the when you quit it drops at first. Mine then went crazya dn i'm not taking insuline shots and taking pills to get it down. Anyhow, when your blood sugar drops - even if it hasn't dropped "too low" and is just lower than you're used to, you get irritable (down right meen, actually), so us diabetics tend to me even more irritable than other quitters. I did it. I got off my rear and got moving today. I just walked my girls to the bus stop, but the walk back is teacherous. We live on top of a big hill, and going down is one thing - going up would strike fear into the soul of any smoker. I was winded when i got home, but I wasn't coughing, and I didn't need to sit down, and I wans't unable to talk. Being soemoen who tends to dive into things headfirst in an all or nothing sort of thing, and thn come out of them a week later overwhelmed, bored, dissapointed, and giving up... i've decided to take baby steps. So far I have: - Cut my soda intake down by more than half. - Trippled my water intake. - Completely eliminated the chocolate candy that I was relying on when I first quit. - Am starting a new addition to my morning routine in walking the kids to the bus. I figure I quit smoking for long term health and to feel better on the short term. To try and crash diet to look like a movie star next week would be dumb, then. I'm just going to take baby steps to bless my heart. Anyone wanna join me? By the way - you all can disregard my old "weigh in on tuesday" thread. Now that i have quit smoking and have gotten a bit of confidence under my belt, i'm really ready to give up all of that DUMB BORING point counting that got me to loose 10-20 pounds until the feeling of being cheeted took over with a vengeance and I gained it all back!! I've thrown all of my weight watcher crap in the dumpster. This is a new me and I don't have to throw away all of my money to be told all the time that I need to eat like a bird, and excercise like an olympian to do anything good for myself. I'm just going to take every oportunity to build long term habbits of blessing my heart, and the rest will fall right in line.

YAY!! My next goal will be to start walking in the evenings, too!!! It's actually 15 minutes in the morning - 7 one way, and then a bottle of water. Makes it sound so simple, huh? I still huff and puff going up this big old hill every morning, and I still have to force myself to do anything. I thought it might be becuse my diet has been so crappy? Though, I never got the cough and coughed up all the gunk either... did you? Krissy.. baby steppin it! LOL Nice to see you around again. I've sure grown to appreiciate this place. Well, i have continued to walk the girls to the bus in the morning, and yesterday we went up in the mountains where it is cool and we hiked and walked a ton there. We go tot he mountians a lot but I was always too winded to do much moving, so i'm establsihing that as movement time now. Then this morning we got up and hiked out behind our house a mile or so. There is a cemetary back there that I had never seen before. I'm finally loosing that fear of movement that I had before. I used to be afraid i'd be breathing too hard to get home if I did something like that!! I saw my doctor today. I had a list of big health issues that I was going through but when I got there I realised that they had all gone away. I got new medicine for diabetes, and my doctor gushed about my quit!! He said that he was really proud of me, and that i was really on my way to making big changes in my life. I have gained 9 pounds, and he said that was OK - he'd rather have me chubby than a smoker. LOL I go back in another 3 months, and I hope to have lost a few of those 9 pounds. My all or nothing perfectionism wants me to be a size 2 by then, but i'm really working hard on those baby steps!
