There is absolutely nothing wrong with you. You are going through withdrawal and it SUCKS big time. We have all been blithering idiots (well maybe not all of us...but I was) at this stage in our quit. It does get better...I promise! Congrats on day 2! Hi soccercoach, Congratulations on your quit. I'll tell you what worked for me those first few days. Total distraction. Whether it was reading, walking, talking to someone. I just kept myself extremely busy. House cleaning or whatever you like to do. It made me forget and so I didn't feel the crave as bad. I don't know if you are using anything to help but the patch worked well for me. I am down to the 7mg now and am still struggling a bit with cravings but I absolutely REFUSE to go back to day one again. The clincher for me was when I heard on the news that the bast--d tobacco companies were putting MORE of the nicomonster in the cigarettes for the last 6 years. I got so angry that the only way to vent that anger was to stop putting money in their greedy pockets! Don't know how old you are but I remember back in the 80's and 90's when the heads of those drug companies (and that's what the nicomonster is) proclaimed that there was no such thing as a bad for your health cigarette and absolutely no chance of addiction. Liars then and deceiver's now. All those fake commercials claiming they want people to quit and how you can go to their websites for instructions on how to quit. What liars these people are. Don't let them get to you again! Maybe if you get as angry as me, then the withdrawl won't be so bad! Good luck and stick with it! :) Sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/21/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 39 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 993 Amount Saved: $146.25 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 3 Mins: 40 Seconds: 35

Soccer Coach, Relax... what you're going through is normal. Actually, the not being able to think straight is the carbon monoxide leaving your body. And really, do you WANT carbon monoxide in your body? It's a poison! I didn't think so. So actually, this is a good thing. As for the happy/tired/craving thing... well, that's pretty much what the quit is for the first few days, but after that, some of this should ease up on you. You're doing great! Just hang in there! Crave the Quit! Nothing wrong with you Soccercoach. Check out the Quit Program Tools to the left of your screen and work through them. That should get you through a crave or two. :p Fondly, Free My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 139 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,190 Amount Saved: $556 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 18 Mins: 3 Seconds: 13

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

I am feeling better today. I can make it through most cravings by relaxing. Others are more intense, but I catch myself thinking like my old self and it startles me back to reality. I will not go have a cigarette after lunch, I don't do that anymore. It is difficult, but by the soccer game tomorrow morning, it will be better than it is now. Thanks for all of the encouragement along the way. This is really helping. Thanks.
