Here are a few more costume ideas if dieting is distasteful: Hagrid or Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter Fat Albert or, my personal favorite, Kirstie Alley ~~~~~~ Have you called Jenny, yet?

Butterfly Swimmer, What a great attitude! Here are a few tips to get you started: * Start an exercise regiment. In addition to keeping the waistline in check by boosting your metabolism and burning fat, it may also help with some other withdrawal symptoms such as restlessness, disturbed sleep, anxiety, anger, sadness and constipation. * Keep those snacks healthy. Try ice water and raw veggies. Try cutting out refined & complex sugars and high fats. * Take your time when eating, it takes your stomach 15-20 minutes to tell your brain it's full. * Don't crash diet. Your body just hangs onto everything you put into your mouth and stores it. It also uses up muscles for energy when it's deprived of food. It won't use up fat like you'd want it too. Hope this helps. OK.............BFS in a short-skirted Snow White costume ;p Gosh! Mad Englishman NB Don't worry about a little extra weight..........you have to be 3 million stone before the health risks are the same as for smoking. Get it off slowly over the next few months.
Right now, I can get it on, but it doesn't zip up... if I'm lucky, and pull hard enough at just the right angle, I can get it zipped... but breathing is a problem. Now granted, I have quit smoking and have better breath control now than I did when I was smoking, but I can't hold my breath all night!
LOL...too funny. Tomorrow, girl.. tomorrow! Get that white chocolate fix before the diet or you will "Crave the Chocolate!". You've been tough with your quit so I have no doubt you can drop those 10 pounds. :) (what's the costume?) Woohoo... you are gonna be smoooookin'! (but in a good way). Halloween Tip: If you have to give out candy to the kids on Halloween...buy the kind you don't like and treat the last kid to everything that's left. Lots of good info in this forum. I'm sure you'll be seeing a lot to help you. G'luck :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/2/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 593 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 11,868 Amount Saved: $2117.01 Life Gained: Days: 62 Hrs: 19 Mins: 55 Seconds: 5

Pam, It took me a long time to deal with my weight gain but now that I've been gettin it done - it really is a LOT like quitting smoking. Weight is really just a matter of calories in and calories out. It takes 3500 calories to lose or gain 1 pound. So, if you burn or cut out 500 calories/day you will have the 3500 calorie deficit to lose one pound per week. The number of calories you need for your height, weight and body are specific to you but you can find calculators all over the internet. Of course it's best to consult your doctor. You also have to be sure that you are getting enough calories or your body will go into "store" mode. The Mountain Dews alone are probably around 150 calories each so cutting out 3-4 is a big deal. Also, you are burning calories with the exercise as well. Weight training does wonders for tightening up the jiggly bits and will help build muscle (and bone) while cardio exercise is what burns the fat covering the muscle. I am now doing both and although my weight hasn't dropped a LOT, my clothes fit better and I'm leaner. Is there a gym at school or do you have a membership somewhere? BFS, Interesting question? What motivated your quit? Try and use the same analogy with your weight. It is apparent that you want to fit into this costume badly, so this can be your incentive to maintain your exercise and healthy eating. Try releasing those snacks and substituting for the good ones for a while and see how you feel :) You can also check with your doctor to come up with a plan that is right for you. It is great that you feel confident in your body, this is excellent! Perhaps a bigger costume, after all you don't wear the size on the outside :) Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
