Get a new costume (joke). I would do slim fast for the rest of the time, start after you have eaten all the choc covered fruit. This seems to help you loose the weight fast and that is what you want to do, now keeping it off is the other thing but you can cross that path when you get to it. Cigarettes Not Smoked

Missy, It's an adorable Snow White costume, but it's really short (not exactly your typical Snow White... sort of like Snow White's evil slu**y twin.) I bought it 2 years ago, but was sick on Halloween and never wore it, and then didn't do anything for Haloween last year (it probably wouldn't have fit anyway), so this year, I'm bound and determined to get that sucker on... if I have to duck tape the back!!! :8o: Crave the Quit (working on craving the weight loss)! OK, so I guess white chocolate covered strawberries are out?!?! :confuse: My dad bought me a HUGE 2 1/2 pound block of white chocolate (my favorite) because he knew how much I adore it, so I was going to make white chocolate covered strawberries and rasberries tonight. :) But maybe not. Or better yet, start my diet tomorrow! :) :) :) So, who needs breathing anyway, right? :quest: Crave the Quit (not craving the weight loss)! OK, I have avoided this forum for long enough! I've been on this site for well over a year and have never once posted here. To be honest, I think I've been afraid of this forum. But enough is enough! I NEED to fit into my Halloween Costume in a month and a half! Right now, I can get it on, but it doesn't zip up... if I'm lucky, and pull hard enough at just the right angle, I can get it zipped... but breathing is a problem. :gasp: Now granted, I have quit smoking and have better breath control now than I did when I was smoking, but I can't hold my breath all night! :8o: :gasp: So I need to lose about 10 pounds. I know I can do it... I just need the motivation. Guess I'd better browse around in this forum and see what tips I can find. Any tips and advice are graciously accepted!!! Personally, I'm pretty happy with my body. My clothes all still fit and my boyfriend doesn't seem to mind the few extra pounds (since he never saw me pre-quit, he has nothing to compare it to), but the Halloween Costume thing is getting to me. So, I guess it's time to lose the extra weight. Crave the Quit (and the weight loss)! Unfortunately Brent, they won't postpone Halloween for me until I can lose the weight... something about it already being on the calendars. ;p I mean, how rude! How insensitive to not just put off Halloween for a few weeks! :p Crave the Quit (craving the weight loss, sort of???)! OK, I've been thinking about this and here's my real problem: I know that dieting isn't as important as quitting smoking. Why is this a problem? Well, the people here aren't going to smack me upside the head and get mad at me for blowing my diet. I don't have a meter to reset if I blow my diet. So what if I blow my diet? So I am finding that I really don't have any motivation at all to do this thing! I really want to fit into my costume, but at the same time, I just can't force myself to want to lose the wieght! Another problem (and I'm about to make a hundred enemies in 2 seconds!): My problem is that I've never really had to lose weight. I'm one of those people who can eat and eat and eat and not gain weight, and if I do gain a few pounds, they usually come off by themselves if I'm patient and wait for that to happen. I'm not overweight and so I really don't see the need and I really wouldn't be concerned if it weren't for this darn costume thing! I've never dieted successfully. Sure, I've made a couple of attempts here and there because it's the "thing to do" but I know in my heart that I'm not overweight. I do exercize on a regular basis, so I'm not out of shape... but when it comes to changing what I eat to lose weight, I get weak and don't do it! So how do I motivate myself???? That's the biggest thing! I know that if I tried, I would be able to lose the 10 pounds no problem... but how do I get myself motivated and STAY motivated for more than 10 minutes?!?!?!?! Crave the Quit (not craving the weight loss AT ALL right now!) Gonna, LOVE your costume! I thought about trading in Snow White for Shamu... but we'll try the diet first! :p Sterk, I think the Slim Fast idea will probably work great. I am not really concerned with keeping it off... I'm within a healthy range and I don't mind the way I look, so I'm actually not even concerned about the long term... now, if it stays off without me trying, then I'm OK with that. Plan: Exercize: Swim for 1/2 hour to 1 hour 3-4 times a week; walk to and from campus everyday (I have to do this anyway, and I usually get about a 1/4 - 1/2 mile a day... more on days when I forget something and have to go home 2 or 3 times!!!); Physical Therapy on my shoulder once a week (I usually get a decent upper body work out when I'm there). Diet: This is where I need some help! I'm weak! I'm eating white chocolate covered strawberries as we speak!!! I had popcorn (with lots of butter and salt) as a midnight snack! My meals are usually pretty healthy (chicken, vegetables, pasta, etc... - nothing fried EVER!) but it's the snacks I have problems with! I just don't see myself trading in the popcorn and chocolate covered strawberries for carrots and celery!!! I need help! Crave the Quit (who needs weight loss anyway?)! OK, I found some healthy, low cal/low fat things that I like: Orville Redenbacker (sp?) popcorn cakes (WOW! They are GOOD! And only 60 calories per serving and no fat!) Salsa - but what goes with salsa that's low cal/low fat? I mean, there are only 10 calories in each serving of salsa and no fat, but what can I put with it? Chips have too many calories and grams of fat! I'm having a hard time putting something with it that I will like. I've decided to try to substitute bottled water for my Mountain Dews. That's a HUGE sacrifice!!! I usually drink 3-5 Mt. Dews a day... I'm going to limit it to 1 or less and see how that goes. Any other suggestions are graciously accepted. Sterk, I'm going to go check out your smart balance popcorn right now. Thanks for the suggestion! Crave the Quit (yeah,yeah... weight loss too)! Josie, What motivated me to quit? The fear factor! No, not the disgusting show! :p Fear of what would happen if I kept smoking; fear of this group of people if I slipped or relapsed! :8o: Nobody here is going to get really upset with me if I screw up this diet! I don't have that "fear" motivation! Yes, I want to get into the costume, but I'm not sure if I want it badly enough to see this thing through to the end. I mean, this isn't like quitting! With quitting, it's Not One Puff Ever... with food, it's moderation and choosing the right things... but the wrong one every once in a while isn't going to hurt the diet quite like one cigarette would hurt the quit. I'm just so frustrated! Crave the Quit! (Weight loss? What weight loss?)
