Coreen, Glad to see you're learning, knowledge is power. Keep working through our program, it may help you understand more about yourself and your addiction. Keep us posted, we are proud of you for making the decision not to smoke. Danielle ________________________ The SSC Support Team

Correen, You are not a failure, you have experienced a slip. It is now time for you to learn from it, pick yourself back up and keep going. Was having cigarettes in the house too tempting? What will you do about that? What do you currently have in your quit plan for coping with cravings? Was it working? Does it need more strategies? Do you have a reward system in place? Do you need more distractions? Have you broken old routines you associated with cigarettes? Where the lozenges helping? Don't be too hard on yourself, you are learning a new skill, a new way of living and only practice makes perfect. You can do this! If you need help or suggestions for the pile of questions I've given you, we're just a few clicks away. Danielle ______________________________ The SSC Support Team
You guys i knew i had some cigs in there
Not sure why you had cigarettes around if you are Quitting?? That won't work... Before starting again on your Quiit (if that's what you choose to do) do the program on the left and do some soul searching... If I had cigarettes (notice my meter?) I would smoke them... So at the beginning of your Quit, well - you know the rest... This is an ADDICTION... we are addicts... Quitting is serious - hiding cigarettes make no sense... You can do this IF you want to Quit more than you want to light up...simple as that statement is, it's true... Hi Correen- It usually gets much worse before it gets better... Think about how many cigarettes you smoked, and you are only on day 7... HOLD ON TIGHT... Stay in the moment rather than worrying about what's ahead... Go back and read old posts, as there is a great deal of info there that will support you and give you amazing coping skills to add to your toolbox for now and later on. Hold on to yourself and wrap yourself up in your own gentleness and compassion ... YOU ARE HEALING RIGHT NOW... Mookie, i don't know what 'lozengers' your'e on but when you stop smoking 'Cold Turkey' you go through 3 days of nicotine withdrawl, 3 weeks of physical adjustments & 100 to 130 days of emotional 'tug of war'. The various Nicotine replacement therapy(s) (NRT) extend these 3 days of nicotine withdrawl to however long the course runs via a 'weaning off' period which can be up to 3 months :8o:. We are all druggies, addiction to nicotine will stay with us for the rest of our lives, It jsut gets more bearable to live with. Like anything - time heals. Coreen, Sorry that you had to learn this the hard way. We can not have any cigs around at this stage of the journey. Almost everyone of us would have given in at some point if we knew they were in the other room. You said that you trashed them, my question is, Did you obliderate them. Soak them down tear them up, flush them away. And then get rid of the case and the lighter, and the ashtrays. You can't keep those things around at all. It's like telling your mind that you will get back to them later. You can do this, but you have to go back and make a big list of coping skill. You know how foggy your head gets, and how the thoughts just take over your life. So it's important to have those skills lined up and right in front of you each minutes. Those will help you stay protected from giving in. Good Luck! The real serious cravings will not go on for months. You are endured the worst part of the quit in my view. Turn your head around and look at the accomplishment todate not the pain you are afraid you may have to endure. I suspect you are just on the threshold of downhill now. You just gotta' believe me that it will get better and better. I suspect you have not worked the tools on the left of this screen. Have you taken the 6 Mile Journey? Have you made a public pledge? The Hall of Fame has heart felt stories about how it all happened to others (read mine...it will make you think.). No one in this site is more pleased that you came right back and started again. The person above me asked a profound question...why did you have cigarettes around? This is no game here. You are playing with an extension on your life for the good of your family and friends. They deserve it and so do you. Get yourself a check up from the neck up and reset your resolve to move forward here. By the yard it is hard. By the inch it is a cinch. In other words, do not imagine a total quit forever...imagine a day with out cigarettes. It is as simple as that. The formula for success is right between your ears.
