Bubba said
By the yard it is hard. By the inch it is a cinch. In other words, do not imagine a total quit forever...imagine a day with out cigarettes. It is as simple as that. The formula for success is right between your ears.
Those are just the kinds of things i am talking about to play in my head. I had been looking at a year from now......i can not do that! I choose to not smoke today. All smoking items are out of this house. I had already cleaned car and anyplace else that triggered my mind. I kept the cig case with couple because.....oh it doesnt matter they are long gone now. It really brought me down though....that i didnt make it. In some way it is good.....because i dont want to feel like this again. Very disappointing. Trying to pick myself back up and learn from it. This book you all talk about...I am very much interested in the mind manipulating that this habit has. Is that what it is about? I have to be smarter then he is and right now i do not feel that way. Just a bowl of mush. lol Thanks again for your help,Correen

Thanks so much for your support. I soooooo need it! I just want to run and hide away sometimes. I had to get out and get more info about the psychological part of this. For me this is all going to be a mind game with myself. Its terrible for this to have so much control over your entire body......but it does. I want to succeed at this more then anything but right now its just one hour at a time. I am choosing not to smoke. correen

Correen, You are not a failure, your only a failure when you slip and we dont see you back on here-like the last ten times I`ve tried. I WAS a doulble heavy smoker, now, I dont Smoke; i love saying that to people, it gives me a sense of enormous well being. Come Back, re-set your meter, and crack on. I see from your meter that you were a heavy smoker Correen 40+ a day? Thats a lot of time every single day smoking cigarettes and doing little else. You have so much free time now you arent smoking. Have you prepared for this? Are you rewarding yourself? You hit ONE WEEK!! Well done you have got out of hell week. How are you going to reward yourself? Whatever you do, dont smoke and DONT PANIC!! You dont need those cigarettes and I promise this will get better, in time you will think about it less and less.. Keep us posted how you are doing! Well done for making the decision to quit!! Hello Correen, I wish I could post my cravings log, but i cant unforuntately, so anyway this is how mine has been. I dont really have cravings now, so I hope you find this helpful. Days 1,2 were fine Days 3.4 I felt like Iwas going mental Days 5 Still a bit mental but not so bad Day 6 Good day Day 7 Slighty worse Day 8 I felt my head was going to explode. Awful day Day 9 Good day no cravings Day 10 Slightly worse Day 11-14 ok Day 15 No Craving Day 16 Slightly worse Day 17-18 Ok Day 19 No cravings Day 20 Ok Day 21 Very stressed craving high Day 22 + Nothing really. Its been pretty good and I dont really think about smoking that much now, no real cravings at all. That was me, I just wanted to show you that what you are going through is NORMAL. We all go there. I know it can be disheartening to get another bad day when you think it is behind you. You always have to be on your guard esp if you are drinking. IT WILL GET BETTER! Everyones quit is different, but for me once I went past 3 weeks I knew this time i was going to make it, I know for others it has been slightly longer. I hope this helps My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 33 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 839 Amount Saved: 247.5 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 23 Mins: 1 Seconds: 45

As long as you get back and keep trying that is all that counts. However, I think each time you slip you do make it harder for yourself, and you do drag it out. Each time you slip you go right back to day one. Why were you keeping cigarettes? Did you think you might need them for later? Why would you if you are quitting smoking you will never need to smoke again. Its all a learning experience Correen, stick with it. This is my final quit, sometimes you need to learn things for yourself, you went back to day one again. How many times you do that, is really up to you. Whatever we will be here for you.. Keep at it!
