TwinsMomma, Many members have felt the same way and have gone on to become non-smokers. Visit the Hall of Fame and search through our forums for examples. Start working through our online quit program located on the left side of your screen. Putting into place a reward system may be especially helpful to you as it will give you something to work towards. Ex: Your going to clean your house quickly because you're going to get an ice cream after. Remember, this is just an example you can twist this an apply the concept to anything. Maybe you should see a doctor and see if he/she can prescribe you a medicine. I am on two anti depressents because of depression so I really didn't get depressed about stoping the ciggs. I have failed a few times, but I keep trying. I quit smoking on July 16, 2006 at 7:47pm. It has been 1 day, 14 hours, 25 minutes, and 32 seconds since I quit. Had I not quit smoking, I would have: * Smoked 32 cigarettes (That's like smoking a 11 foot long cigarette) * Spent $6.85 on cigarettes * Inhaled 320 mg of tar * Inhaled 25 mg of nicotine (That's like doing 480 hits of nicotine) * Inhaled 352 mg of carbon monoxide * Taken an additional 4 hours, 44 minutes, and 16 seconds off my life

Twinsmama... You CAN quit. When I first began this journey, I never expected to succeed either. I have been depressed, I have felt the doom and gloom but I didn't smoke and here I am over a year later and the doom and gloom is actually lifting for the first time. Life is so much better as a non smoker. Take the plunge and take it one day at a time using N.O.P.E. Not One Puff Ever! That is how we all quit. You can do this and the people here will help you. If you can not smoke for five minutes, you can not smoke for forever! Take it five minutes at a time and when that is up, do another five. Believe in yourself. Being smoke free only SEEMS like the Impossible dream. In reality, it is highly obtainable. Look at all the good people around here doing it. TwinsMomma, Two things... 1. As long as you "think" you need cigarettes to function you will "need" cigarettes to function. 2. Quote: "What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life" Cigarettes still hold way to much importance in your life. They are nothing but dried up plant material that when burnt give off an addictive, toxic smoke. hmmmm... makes me salivate just thinking about them! NOT!!!!! Hell yes when people who are quit smoked, they thought they couldn'd live without them. Guess what? That is B.S. That sort of thinking keeps most smokers smoking. You are better than to give your life over to an addiction. Stop thinking about how "awful" your life will be without sucking deep into your lungs a poisonous smoke that is slowly killing off lung tissue one cell at a time. Think about how "awful" your life will be tethered to an oxygen bottle or worse yet.. picking out your casket because of terminal lung cancer. That passage wasn't meant to scare you... it was meant to point out the reality of smoking. Depression is tough to deal with and if you keep seeing your life tied to a cigarette for survival then you have to get some serious help. Life WITHOUT cigarettes IS survival.
