This is how I quit, I think it has got to be your choice, when the time is right then it will be eaiser for you. I have tried to quit 4 times, I had taken the wellburtion since Jan and I was slowly cutting back but then my sister in law died and that was the last day I have smoked, its a shame it took something like that for me to quit. Hang in there it will get eaiser. Listen to soft music when you feel you need to smoke, I have a bike in my living room, I put my head phones on and listen to soothing music and pedal away when I feel like I want to smoke. And I ask every day to please do not let me smoke today and thank him for yesterday, good luck to you. Good for you Freebird! Wellbutrin really helped me. I often think it just may have prevented a homocide around our house! :8o: Nothing wrong with getting a little help along the way from whatever source you can find... Also, thank you Kay, for sharing your story above. Very touching. I am posting later than I wanted to, but after the Doc's, between work and helping the wife with the kids this is the first chance I had. Anyway, we planned on starting Wellbutrin 150mg for 1 week then 300mg for 2 weeks. After that it will be 300 for a 3 month period. He told me to take them in the morning because they have an effect on your sleep. If I take them at night, he told me I will not sleep very well at all. We are going to get together again in 2 months and see how things are going. If anything does not feel right he told me to call him and he will see me that day. Already, just talking to him about this has lifted my spirits. Thank you all for your support. PS I did tell him about this site and he said he was going to check it out himself and possibly refer to other people that are attempting a quit. Freebird, That is great news. I too am on Welbutrin, same dose, but for 10 months. I love the way I feel now! The sleeping part is true, for me at least. I take mine in the morning. I do have a harder time still falling asleep, but I eventually do. In the afternoons, I feel so tired, but I lay down, and just rest. I cannot fall asleep. But that is okay. I still feel good after a little relaxing. Taking care of yourself is very important. I am so glad you got help. You will be feeling better soon. Hang in there!! ;) 4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 228 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,856 Amount Saved: $745.56 Life Gained: Days: 18 Hrs: 9 Mins: 22 Seconds: 24

That is great Freebird! Arm yourself with whatever tools are necessary to win this war against your addiction. You will be so glad you left the smokes behind. You don't want to smoke. The depression of quitting is no where near as bad as the depression of smoking would be at this point. Keep taking it one day at a time and don't give up no matter what. I promise you will love life as a non-smoker! Free, It is great to see that you are working with your doctor. They can help you come up with a plan that is right for you :) Do you have your coping mechanisms ready? What distraction techniques do you have? By preparing for those craves, you can help push them aside and continue you on with your quit. Please post and let us guide you through, we are always here to help. Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
