Phil, It sounds like you are being level headed with this by having a patch "just in case." That's great! I'm glad that your first day nicotine free is going well. Keep up that awesome attitude and if the cravings get too intense, it's not cheating to put that patch on! But glad to hear that things are going well for you. Crave the Quit! I recently stepped down from 21mg patch to 14mg and had a couple of shakey days, cravings weren't too bad but I noticed I was having more cravings. It is better now, it's been 4 days. I DO know that I will continue with the gradual decrease, next is the 7mg in two weeks, I'll be on those for 2 weeks before I'm done with the patches. so far they seem to be working for me and I'll do whatever it takes to stay quit. Good luck to you Phil. Hi Phil Marie again....can't cut the patch as nicotine evaporates and renders it useless.... Sorry Hugs :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 91 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,376 Amount Saved: $364 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 2 Mins: 31 Seconds: 31

Phil, a little adivise? Do you have lower patches? Like 10mg or 7 mg This is better done slowly, stay on them a shorter amount of time if you want but go down slowly. Now if during the day you feel a huge trigger and put the patch on, well it only works slowly in your blood stream ,an even flow ,so might take 30 minutes before it kicks in. You're doing well , if you think you can do without it then don't carry one with you just rip it off and forget about it .You see the patch doesn't work like the gum or losenges or the inhaler, it's not an instant relief. This being said wish you a wonderful day with or without the patch :)Hugs Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 91 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,370 Amount Saved: $364 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 1 Mins: 9 Seconds: 42

Phil the quit is the most inmportant thing if you need the patch to do it by all means use it nothing is worth losing the amount of non smoking days you have. We are all really proud of you keep it up Sullydog My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/2/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 102 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,333 Amount Saved: $510 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 10 Mins: 48 Seconds: 48

Yes, keep us posted. Who knows, maybe you can just go cold turkey? I have no advice, I didn't quit with the patch, I used wellbutrin. But good luck Andrea My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 97 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,946 Amount Saved: $460.75 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 4 Mins: 25 Seconds: 35

Phil, First of all awsome job so far! I used the patch for the first three weeks of my quit, and trust me I am not a cold turkey type of person. Well one day I just didn't put on my 21mg patch and kept is close by just like you are doing. I figured if it got too bad I could put it on. I know that the patch is not instant relief but I JUST FELT BETTER AS SOON AS IT WAS ON...it was like help is on the way. the withdrawl felt only slightly worse than with the patch so I just never put one on again. well it has been a week and I feel fine. I think that this just proved for me that this was more in my head than I thought it was. everyone is different so do what you think you are comfortable with - not smoking is the most important thing. kat My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 27 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 554 Amount Saved: $135 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 19 Mins: 58 Seconds: 23
