Darcy, You have a great boss! Just take the lesson learned from your slip and move on. Good luck, keep persevering! Danielle _______________________________ The SSC Support Team

Hey Darcy, Please dont give up. Last night I spent time in my bedroom locked up because I wanted to smoke so bad. I even managed to put a hole in the wall. But in the long run, that hole probably saved me from taking that one puff that would've been devastating since I know in my heart that one puff would get me smokign full fledged again. I knew before I even stopped smoking that I'm the type of person that will never be able to just smoke one. I would justify smoking the entire pack. You are not alone and without people here, its almost impossible to quit. These people here will not judge you, but they will hold you accountable. They dont sugar-coat things, but they will pick you up and dust you off. If you ever have the urge again, please type here before lighting up. Its so much easier and typing is much healthier lol. Darcy, It's great that you dosed the pack with water. Most smokers have failed attempts before, finally, conquering this thing. Keep going girl, Don't let this mini-slip stop you. Ugh, Darcy! You can do this. You have to ask for help before you cave in. At least give us a chance to change your mind. Get back up and try again. Drown those smokes and start fresh. I had a failed attempt before I succeeded, learn from it! Darcy- I think if you are asking "us" what to do, then you are clearly not ready to quit. It's not something to be ashamed of. We were all there at one time. You had a plan- to keep smoking...which is why you took the patch off. Be honest. Even if it was subconscious. When you want to quit more than you want to smoke, start over. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 117 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,698 Amount Saved: $1053 Life Gained: Days: 19 Hrs: 7 Mins: 7 Seconds: 34

Darcy, I cannot comment on the slip thing, as this is my first quit, and I have not put a cig to my mouth, or had any nicotene for that sense, since March 5th. I think it is a personal choice on the meter thingy. Believe me, this is HARD. But it is doable. You have to fight, and promise yourself that no matter how hard it gets, you will NOT go to the store and buy some cigs. Instead, promise yourself that whenever you get a craving, and you feel it is too much, you will come here first. The SSC is a wonderful coping mechanism. But it is up to you to stay true to your own word, as you are only battling yourself. Each time you fight off a crave, brings you that much closer to freedom!! Take your life back. Take your thoughts and energy back and do something healthy instead!! This is your life, and it is worth fighting for!! Stay with us, and reach out to us!! We are all here for you!! We will walk with you on your journey, just let us!!! ;) 4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 102 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,075 Amount Saved: $333.54 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 5 Mins: 57 Seconds: 0

Darcy, Glad you are back on track. Learn from your mistake. Remeber there is never a reason to smoke no matter how horrible you think your situation is. Smoking doesn't resolve anything and it doesn't help you during stressful times. Plenty of us here to help you get through this. Elle I have been quit for 3M 2W 1D 3h 22m 37s (107 days). I have saved $294.63 by not smoking 1,178 cigarettes. I have saved 4D 2h 10m of my life. My Quit Date: 2/28/2006 11:00 PM

Darcy, Quitting sucks. PERIOD. There is no magic pill to get over smoking (I wish!). Pick yourself up, brush yourself off and get going. One day at a time. You have to go through the hell to get to the light at the end of the tunnel. It is probably the hardest thing you will ever do but it is also the most rewarding. Remember: Everyday is one day closer to never feeling this way again. Smoking is an addiction. Refuse to let it control your life for another moment. You CAN do it! Don't discount the patches too soon - they work. I admire a cold turkey quit but for me it was not an option. I have a high level job and I need to function well and not get crazy emotional and let that drive me, EVER! I used the patch. 21mg, then 14mg then 7mg. By the time I stopped wearing the 7mg, I was ready to deal with the final nicotine leaving my system. I wasn;t worried about having it all out in 3 dyas and making myself nuts. To hell with that. I've got 101 day under my belt right now in my most successful quit ever. I will never go back to smoking I did it right this time. The patch worked for me. You do whatever you need to quit. I venture a guess you would not have ended up in the store buying those smokes if you had been compliant with the patch.... I like your boss. STOP SMOKING!
